Hello. I'm lactose intolerant and I read the ingredients of the ensure drinks and they say that they contain milkprotein ingredients but then it says lactose free. Would this be OK to drink or not?

I am certainly not an expert, but my daughter just got out of children's hospital a month ago and her doctor has her drinking 3-5 boosts or ensures a day. My daughter loves both of them. Chocolate only. She hates the juices. I also have an employee at work. I am sorry, I don't remember, but one works really good with her and the other one upsets her stomach. Her doctor also told her drink them.

It may contain maltodextrin which is shown to be bad for Crohn's due to feeding harmful bacteria in the gut.

Lactose is found in the sugars of milk not the protein. That's why butter and cheese is typically safe for those with lactose intolerance.
