First off I love this forum and all of u guys ur so helpful!!!! But my question is I've been on entocort now for 6 days and I felt great for most of ur but the last 2 days I feel like I've went backwards? My cramping is back and my indigestion is back and so is my fatigue. (not nearly as bad as it was before) is this normal for taking entocort to have a back slide like this or is it a sign that the med may not be working? Also I've never had acid reflux or indigestion that I know of before but this summer for me has been terrible!!!!!!! I'm taking prilosec 40mg a day and its helping but it seems to be wearing off too?!?!? Idk maybe it's in my head but does anyone else on here have bad reflux and I sigestion during a flare up it almost seems like its a seasonal thing crazy as it seems. Also is it safe to sneak in a 20mg OTC of prilosec along with my 40mg if I'm having a bad day like the last 2 days? Sorry I'm rambling now but any help would be awesome thanks guys!!!!

Sometimes entocort takes a while to have its full affect, it can be up to for weeks, so don't worry too much about this yet, but make sure you inform your doctor if things get worse. It's also pretty common for steroids to cause heartburn

Don't up the dose of your medication without asking your doctor first. It doesn't have to be your gi it could just be your GP for now. They might suggest taking 20mg tablets twice a day instead or they might offer another medication to use along side the prilosec.

Have you ever been tested for asthma or suffered with hay fever?

No I have not been tested for either yet. My gp said she doesn't wanna do that yet that my lungs looked and sound fine and seeing as the prilosec is actually helping my breathing and chest pains out that she's certain it's acid reflux causing the problem. But she also said that its not uncommon for acid reflux to cause asthma so that may be something to look into eventually. But I can tell a huge deference in my over all condition right now it's just not progressing at the speed I'd like it too. I get mild reflux all day long but it's gotten a lot better i just wish it would all go away but I know that we'll probably never happen its something ill have to live with along with my Crohn's :-(

My chest sounded fine too, but when they tested me my peak flow was much lower than it should of been (around 200 should of been around 450 ) so they had me record my peak flow 3 times a day then gave me an inhaler and said to do the same thing. The difference was incredible. It is something to keep in mind, since it can also get worse in summer.

I know it's very frustrating right now but keep going, things will get better.
Just out of interest , when did you last have an endoscopy?

Never had a endoscopy just colonoscopys this is the first time I've ever had reflux issues it's new to me? I've had several chest X-rays and a ct scan with dye contrast to check lungs and chest everything looked fine. And I get blood work done regularly cause of Crohn's. After explaining all this to my gp she was very suspicious of silent acid reflux and after taking my meds and seeing the improvement already I'd have to agree I just hope I haven't added asthma to me many sicknesses!!!! GOD knows I don't want anymore

Even my Crohn's dr suspected that this was connected to a Crohn's flare up and also contributed it to me not being on any meds for the past year and kinda letting it get way out of control. Whatever the reason I'm ready to put this behind me it sucks!!!

I was just wondering because my fad had similar symptoms to yours, and for years he thought he was just gettin bad tonsilitis, but he had to get tested for something else and had an endoscopy, it turned out that it had been gerd all along and he had developed a type of sliding hernia, he had to take a single tablet and it was gone. Now he just takes some antacids when he needs to. It's just a thought but if you haven't had any testing, how do you know for sure it's silent reflux? There are many conditions that can cause your symptoms that would improve with the drug your using. And if you do have asthma don't worry it's really easy to get under control.

I guess I'm just taking the docs opinions and going with it hopefully she knows more than me cause all I do is freak out and make things worse!! But I'm sure a endoscopy is in my future if my symptoms don't improve. I go back to my Crohn's dr the 10th of October and well see if I'm better by then if not I'm sure he will run some more test and want a endoscopy.

Okay, just be careful. I had doctors tell me for years I was fine and my stomach pain was just a pulled muscle or something... So they can get things wrong, and it sounds like she's working on guesses, which is why I'm reluctant to just take things at face value without some form of testing first, just incase. If your a worrier I can understand just taking the word of the doctor, but we are all here to support you. It may be nothing and just reflux, or there might be ulcers from the reflux, just keep an eye on it and keep us updated :) .

I well do and thank you so much!!!! u have been a huge support for me these last few days!! I just gotta stop worrying so dang much!!! I'm 230pound male age 28 and I loveee to eat and I don't eat like I should I wonder if I start concentrating more on my diet if that well help a lot of these accumulating health problems? I'm gonna start a new thread on questions about diet as well so look for me over there I have a ton of questions about my diet relating to Crohn's and reflux. Again thank u!!

Your very welcome! I will have a look for your thread and see if I can help. I know that fatty or high spice food can make reflux worse

You need to give the entcort awhile to work. I felt full effect
At about 6weeks. Pain reduced as well has the time in the bathroom.
From what I've read/heard its not as fast acting
Or always as effective as other steriods.I also was on the highest dose
For awhile. Didn't notice acid reflux

On another note:) I to love to eat I use to be
Very overweight. And I'm still a bit overweight .
Diet plays a roll in how you feel. My dr said something
To me that helped. If your like me I've always enjoyed food
A lot of family gatherings revole around them.
So when I got sick food became a double edge sword.
When I'm having a good day I need to remind
Myself not to over indulge or make poor food choices.
Fatty foods and spicy are a no no for me. Dairy is a problem to.
Everyone is differnt I keep a food journal to track what bothers me
And what sits ok. Good luck
