Hi All,

I'm waiting for surgery in the form of a small bowel resection and when my consultant advised me of this 2 weeks ago, he told me to reduce my steroids; Entocrot 9mg down to 6mg to prepare for surgery. I've been on these steroids for over a year and every time they've tried to reduce them it just makes me ill again. After a week of the reduced dose I got ill (or I should say more ill than I've been putting up with these last few months) and have had to be off work again, which I hate and worry so much about. So I have a few questions;

Does this happen to anyone else?

Why does this happen?

Why do I need to be on the lowest dose possible for surgery?

Will being more I'll affect me having the resection?

I'll discuss this with the surgeon tomorrow too. I just hope this resection is soon :/. Thank you in advance for any replies.

Yvette.

I've been one it now for 6+ months. I've
Tried tapering down and I get sick again.
Dr says some people respond really well
And when it's reduced that's just what happens.
Sorry I can't help with the other stuff. Good
Luck

Hi Mere282,

Thanks for your reply, I think I'm in sane situation where I've responded well too it. Appreciate your response.

Thanks :)

Well I've met my Surgeon this morning and he said I need to reduce again to 3mg! Gosh I'm going to feel worse! lol! Surgery in 2-3 weeks though so after that should be a lot better :)
