We are having visitors from France in about a week. They have not seen our son since he was 4 years old, and he is now 17 and has Crohn's (he was diagnosed at age 15). We feel like we should explain in an email what he has gone through and how he is doing, so that when they see him they will understand why he is so thin and why he gets tired easily, etc.

Can anyone give me some key words in French? I would use Google Translate, but my French friend told me that it is harder for her to understand the translation than it is to figure out my English!

Thanks!

Hi Habbymomma,
I have a friend who would be happy to translate a message for you. Living as an expat I am lucky to have many international friends. Do let me know if we can help.

I have a great idea... Send them to http://www.crohnsandcolitis.ca It is our foundation here ( like the CCFA, but actually been around longer, and just changed their name from Crohn's and colitis foundation of Canada). They have the site in English and French. Though its Quebec French they will understand all of it. It is a great resource and will explain things clearly without confusing things in a translator that never quite does the job.

Many ppl on this forum speak French, I do, so does malgrave afaik and a few others. Google translate works really well for French, it had no flaws when I typed something in. Just type something in it and let ppl correct any Google mistakes, but the Google translate is really accurate as far as I can tell. I'm surprised how accurate it actually is, it doesn't seem to make any mistakes at all.
