Do you take extended release meds how so you do with them do they work the same or come right out in your bag.

If I have a choice, I take the regular ones and not the extended release. But I've also had 6-9 feet of small intestine removed due to mulitple j-pouch failures. I did take budesonide for a while. Those were controlled release which I assume is the same thing, and my doctor said it wouldn't be a problem. Didn't really work anyways so I don't take it anymore. But if I take a 24 hour pill for my sinuses sometimes I see what's left of the pill in my ostomy output. Some vitamins I tried did that too from what I remember.

Thats for responding but you have some left even a few inches :( I have KNOWN.... mine emptys as SOON as I eat drink .... the only thing that has slowed it down is the morphine go figure I dont go every 5 minutes abd

I have no colon or rectum either and also some of my small intestine gone. I don't take any specific Crohn's meds, but do use Imodium for control on very liquid days. Also Magnesium supplement.

You all need to talk to you DRs I worry its saddens me how little they tell us Ostomates I found out how bad it was my last hospitalization when my levels were taken and my theophline level was 0 and I take it everyday twice a day. So I started using the disposable bags instead of emptying and there you go my meds where in the bad. We dont absorb them right either with out our intestines :( get online read about it its all there. I have to crush all my meds except the time release and I was HOPING these would work but they are not, so I have to start a patch :( I take 9 pills a day .... as for the Imodium it resolves ot digest right away in the stomach and small intestines I dont get it either but thats what my surgeon said BUT my dietitian says buy liquid?? Good luck everyone <3 Merry Christmas!!
