I have been trying hard to get rid of H. pylori. I already took 3 separate H. pylori treatment but the results were positive. In December 2012 my results came back positive once again. I did not bother taking any medication after the result came back positive. One month later I went back to my GI and he advised to check H. pylori and C. Difficile once again. I this Time H. Pylori was negative but the C. difficile was positive.

My doctor said he is not sure why it is negative even though I was not prescribed any medicine. He decided to treat C. difficile now. Now I am taking Metronidazole 500mg 3 times a day. The medicine making me sick and causing slight pain inside the abdomen.

Is it true that it is very dangerous to take Metronidazole if the H. Pylori is still present. Does Metronidazole make H. pylori antibiotic resistant?

Hi. I am not sure of the answer to your question, but wanted to recommend that you may also try posting this in the General IBD forum (if you have not already done that) since that are more viewers there. Good luck!
fyi - Flagyl caused some problems for my son (ie yellow tongue). Maybe you can request oral vancomycin?

Honestly, H-pylori is VERY hard to irradicate. It almost always comes back. I have H-pylori and I wont treat it. My gastro doc even said that a lot of times it is very hard to get rid of. I mean most of the world is walking around with H-pylori. They usually do not treat unless you have an ulcer present because the cure rate is so low as it is. I would not worry about the H-pylori. I would focus on getting rid of the C-diff. Do you have major Diarreha with the C-diff? There is another 2 drugs they are using to help with C-diff. One is Vancomycin( it has to be the oral drug) and also rifaxmin( I may have spelled that wrong).

There a couple of natural things that can help alleviate H-pylori. I have tried one when I am having that burning in my stomach which works really well. I use Siberian Tiger Pine Nut oil. You can google it and read there testimonials. I have to say that it helped my upper gut burning quite a bit. Also they say that manuka honey is suppose to be good at helping with H-pylori. Also something called Mastic Gum is suppose to irradicate it as well. You can google them all and read up on it... But yeah, from everything I have read, trying to kill H-pylori is very difficult at best.
