I'm in charge of the mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving. It's just how it goes and it helps it's one of my go-to foods for ease of eating goodness. I've tried a lot of recipes over the years, some of my favorites have been the horseradish mashed potatoes and the sour cream and chives mashed potatoes.

So what are some of your favorite, easy to eat, always tastes good mashed potatoes recipes?

Fried egg & Heinz Beans! all mashed up, yummy
Or
Just Anchor butter, milk & salt, yummy

Garlic mashed potatoes.

You either roast a whole head of garlic and add it while you mash it, or chop up a whole lot and add it to the water while cooking them.

then milk and butter while you're mashing and salt & pepper to taste.

It's all about the potatoes. Red Potatoes make the best tasting mashed potatoes. YUM!
I like the Yukon Gold Potatoes too...but they make really yellow mashed potatoes.
Adding dry ranch dressing mix makes them interesting, but not too sure how that would go with turkey gravy.
Have a lovely Thanksgiving!

Idaho baking potatoes, 2% milk, Wisconsin sharp cheddar, regular sour cream (not reduced fat), salt and peppercorns (freshly ground multi color).

My boyfriend makes the best! For special occasions, he'll also put a layer of the cheese on top and throw them back in the oven to melt it.

Mmm... Now I'll have to get him to make them for Turkey Day.

Bob Evans frozen mashed pototoes. Just nuke and serve. They'll NEVER know. Seriously.

No frozen mashed potatoes allowed. Especially when we all cook together. Plus, they do have to be dairy free as my (step)brother keeps kosher!

But I know how to convert the above delicious recipes for cheesy, butter-creamy, sour creamy potatoes above and they all look great.

Thanks for the ideas!

Yukon Gold is the single best all purpose potato. It is the half-way point between the thick skinned starchy potato and the thin skinned waxy.
It is never the best potato for the job, but will do a good job for any use.

I'm a fan of using the baking potatoes for mash, but for me it's the texture that it gives.

So, I ended up making horseradish mashed potatoes because it meant I didn't have to go to the store and buy anything as we were already making cranberry horseradish relish (a fav of mine). They were delicious as always!

And last night, I made mashed sweet potatoes. I don't actually like mine sweetened with sugar most of the time, so I split the potatoes into two batches and made one with butter, salt and pepper and the other for my partner with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and just a little salt and pepper. Nom nom nom.

Thanks for all the great ideas. :)

cheesy mash with beans :)

Im going to have a go at making kale and mash tomorrow

I made mashed sweet potato the other day .. isnt it sweet enough without sugar??
I added a bit of butter, salt and nutmeg

British King Edward potatoes, salted butter, ground black pepper, salt, and a drop of milk.

Bring water to the boil in a large pan, 1/2 tsp. salt, and potatoes, cut into 1" cubes roughly, and boil until they just start breaking up.
Drain thoroughly, and return to hot pan, and give them a good shake, next to an open window or outside.
Now mash hard, before you add anything else. It's worthwhile taking extra time mashing to get perfect mash.
Then add the butter, 150 - 200 grams, cubed, sh*t loads of pepper, pinch of salt, and a small drop of milk, about 40-50ml. You might not think you need to add the milk, but it dries out fast. Then mash all this together.
Serve up.
Eat.
Take compliments on how good the mash is.
Job done.

I crumble in some frozen kale for extra vitamins. It makes them look really pretty too. I do the typical, salt, pepper, butter, and chicken broth in my mashed potatoes. I cant handle milk though.
