Ive been taking Prednisolone for three weeks now (30mg) a day and apart from doing a fntastic job of getting rid of all my Crohns symptoms they are also making me feel super happy! All the threads Ive read have been about mood swings 'roid rage' but I seem to have the complete opposite! I have an overwhelming sense of well being, I feel super tolerant of everyone (Im normally much les tolerant!) nothing seems to annoy me (even though I objectively I know certain things should). Its the weirdest feeling, I just feel super chilled, relaxed and happy! I have put on weight with the steroids which would normally stress me out but even that doesnt bother me! Has anyone else experienced these feelings on prednisolone? I start to taper next week...I hont go completley the other way and end up with the roid rage! :)

When I was on the high doses of pred I felt like this as well, with tons of energy. The only bad thing I found was I couldn't sleep at night because of all this energy lol. All the side effects either disappear or reduce in severity as you taper so I would say it is unlikely you would get roid rage now if you haven't already, but I guess you could find yourself getting more "angry" as the high feeling from the steroids disappears :)

Well fingers crossed ! Yes I was thinking that I will probably get more grumpy when I taper off them..its a shame in a way you cant stay on the high doses forever if they make you feel so good and are so good at controlling the Crohns. Im starting on Pentasa (mesazaline) whilst I taper which should hopefully keep things in remission :-/

I think that's called euphoria and is also a side-effect! I've just had 14 days at 30mg (now tapering) and while it overall hasn't helped my symptoms, I had bouts of euphoria too!

It might also be that the Pred is working nicely on your symptoms, so overall you feel better, happier and more relaxed about things.

i am currently on prednisolone 5th time this year 40mg a day and damn they are magic ain't they? i feel good as as you do all the time and when you taper off them like get to a low does like5-10mg aday my crohns symptoms slowly creep back but other than that there really good for short term use.

Hope you all feel well soon.

Mania is actually a common side effect. I didn't even know it was a side effect till I was sitting in a chapel service at school(private school) & I was bouncing all over the place & feeling invincible-which is the total complete opposite of my normally laid back personality. I discussed this with other Crohnies & it they said it was mania.

I have been on Prednisone since October. Everytime I taper off I end up in the hospital for a few weeks. My longest run this year not being on it was almost 2 months.

I am experiancing a lot more 'extreme happiness' with this round of prednisone(down to 40mg as opposed to 60mg). I was really depressed with my last round of Prednisone.
