Hey

I'm kat, I have been on and off with stomach pains and odd bm's as well as about a hindered other symptoms. I am due my colonoscopy and the camer down my throat and I am now worried that it's not going to show anything at all?

I have read that a lot of people go for the scopes and still get no answers... Is there any likelihood of a diagnosis from a fist scope test?

Thanks

My first colonoscopy revealed that I had Crohn's. Granted, for years before that I had a bunch of endoscopies (camera down throat) that showed nothing because they were on the wrong end, but I digress. One of the reasons they were so quick to verify it was Crohn's is that the type of Crohn's I have is structuring, and the mass of scar tissue and inflammation was a dead give away.

It is true that sometimes it is hard to diagnose with the first scope. A lot of times it is a combination of blood tests, CT Scans, scopes and guessing. However there is a chance you will get your answer on the first shot... scope.

On the lighter side, you can always joke about getting what I call the rotisserie chicken method, since you are getting scoped from both ends. I wish you the best of luck and hope they figure it out quickly for you.

Try not to worry, the prep is the worst part of the COlonoscopy (I have never had the endoscopy) My Crohn's was diagnosed from the scope but whatever the results they will be learning from it and getting closer to a diagnosis.

Haha yeah I have been looking into the prep...are you actually able to eat anything?

Thanks you, here's to hoping for a diagnosis, but I haven't got my hopes up. This time last month I was in hospital with so much pain, but I believe it's gone into remission again, it's comes on for a few months and then goes, does that sound like remission? If so can they still see anything even if it is in remission?

During the prep it's clear fluids only so water, clear broth etc. I think you can have jelly.

I've never had a scope in remission so I'm not sure what would show but I guess there may be something they can see.

I'm hoping they can find something, I've been told ibs by the hospital nurse after a 5 min chat, but my dr. Who has spent so long with me tells me it can't be due to all the symptoms. Thank you bld I will be looking into clear liquid tomorrow... Here's to praying
