Might not be the correct forum. Apologies if this is the case and feel free to move.
Backstory: Several years ago, suffice it to say I had some painful moments when doing a BM. Long story short, I had three fissures and this began the process of me being diagnosed with Crohn's around the age 52.
Doc gave me some prednizone and almost literally, the next day, the intensity of the pain subsided and over a period of time, they healed.
Today, maybe 4-5 years later, I'm starting to feel a burning sensation again. It is NOWHERE as intense as the three fissures were. It's not the burning hot jagged glass feeling.... just a hot feeling. I fear the jagged glass.
It has me wondering if I have another one starting.
My Doc is 3-hours away so I can't (and won't) "casually" go see them. I can't afford to take the entire day off work just to say hello!
If I don't have a Fissure starting, I'm just being a bit nervous, no problem with that.
If I DO have a fissure starting.... what I'm trying to learn is, what can be done at an early stage to help it heal? Is it a diet thing? Medicine thing? The last time, there was zero surgery (if that is ever an option??)
When I had it 5 years ago, I kept waiting for things to heal as I've always held the belief that the human body will try to heal itself. Little did I know that I was attacking myself!
If I'm getting another, I don't want it to get out of hand like the first one I had.
With all this said, "today" as I run to the bathroom, the intensity has in fact subsided, as though it's healing.
Still, I'm curious. What treatment is given to a young, budding fissure?
