Infection and/or diarrhoea can also be a cause as can a tight anal sphincter or trauma (this could be via things like medicated enemas). Outside of these, constipation and Crohn’s there really are no other causes.

Well...I'm really torn. My close friend called me because her daughter has diarrhea and a fissure. She fortunately got an appointment with a GI quickly and they gave her a med, I don't which one and are going to wait and see how she feels. If things don't get better they will go to scopes. I don't want to scare her but I part of me wants to warn her of watching closely b/c of how quickly things got out of hand w/our daughter before dx....

It surely is difficult not to worry when we hear of others with children that we know personally develop symptoms of things we are so familiar with. :ghug:

It may well be that the fissure is related to the diarrhoea only and once it clears up so will the fissure. I surely hope so greypup. :ghug:

I think you can still suggest to your friend to keep a close eye on things without it scaring her and by her speaking with you you will be able to gauge how things are going and guide her if need be, if you feel up to doing that. :ghug:
