I am wondering if anyone who has had intestine to bladder fistula could share their experience. Was it painful? Did you all had air while you urinated? Urinary tract infection? What lead to that diagnosis?

I am asking all these questions as I am having issues with white blood cell and blood that shows in my urine and they are now wondering if it could be caused by a fistula so Im waiting for an enteroscan to confirm this. But I don't really have pain or there is no air passing so I am hoping it is really just a bacteria and not another fistula... I have more than enough already...

Thank you!

Hi Jane. I hope it's not a fistula. When I had one, I had all the symptoms of UTI and sometimes tested positive for infection and sometimes not. My urine was very cloudy and bubbly. I had sort of burning pain lower down in my stomach and when doc pressed on it, the pain would shoot into my pelvic/bladder area. And yes, I'd quite often fart from the wrong place. A CT scan eventually confirmed a fistula.

Hello,
Regarding fistulas, My brother who I cared for had this problem and yes it was very painful! He was also urinating blood at one point and his fistula was behind the bladder in between pelvis and bladder. I strongly urge you to have them go in with a scope and biopsy it and some of your bladder too. I am sorry do not mean to scare you I just wish I had had this done for my brother sooner which would have saved him a lot of unnecessary pain. Also yes have them rule out Bladder infections and have the blood specialists do testing on you regarding the white blood cell issue.

Hello

I had a fistula between bladder and rectum. Painful initially but not much pain once fistula established. Had pneumaturia (passing gas via urethra), UTI's and passing faecal matter via urethra. Now have ileostomy primarily because of this. Best wishes.

I had one.
It wasn't so much the fistula that caused pain (some cramping while it formed), but the endless bladder infections that got way out of control (bladder to colon fistula - yay cockfarts! hahah)... surgery snipped the link, wiped out a chunk of bladder + intestine, and was fine for 10+ years.

Sorry psychoJane for barging in on this, just I have one right now. Currently I have had a never ending UTI since around June, however when tested no bacteria was growing, always painful when going to the loo, sometimes bloody, most often then not its cloudy, very yellow and sometimes got faecal matter in it, and I have a frequency to go quite a lot, oh and the occasional 'bladder fart'
I had an MRI to show them where it is, how many or how big. Got an appointment next week, absolutely sh*t scared about it, cuz i'm so scared i will need a bag or something removed.. i'm just hoping they will be able to stitch it up..
