Does anyone else have a problem with fistulates? I think I spelled that right, I have an extra canal type thing from an abcess that was drained in my right butt cheeck which doesn't seem to cause much embarassing problems for me. However I just had surgery a couple weeks ago on my stomach and I have a little hole that keeps leaking and I'm worried it will never go away like the fistulate on my butt. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could put on it as far as helping it heal up faster and hopefully close up? I REALLY don't want another leaking puss hole, especially one that I can't hide.

It sounds to me like it might be normal surgical leagage. After my last sugery, I also has a little hole that leaked for a few weeks. I just kept a small gauze pad taped on to prevent staining my shirt. One day it just closed up.
I was not having pus, just a light, pinkish fluid. If you are having a thicker pus discharge, you should call your surgeon.

During one of my follow up visits, I think the surgeon did apply some silver nitrate to help healing.

Yea, it isn't goopy like puss yet, and hopefully it won't get that way.. right now I just have a steady leakage the color of fire, it's like yellow/orange/red.. what worries me is that it just never stops. It's like a leaky faucet.

Hi Tweaks, the best thing to do is cover it with a piece of gauze, but let it continue to drain - it probably needs to heal from the inside out.
