Has anyone with Crohns ever seemed to be late on their period from crohns symptoms? I was suppose to start Wednesday and have yet to start. I'm also wondering if it could be the meds I'm on causing me to be late?

Pentasa, Prednisone, Entocort, Flagyl.

I know I'm not pregnant, I'm just concerned why I havent started.:confused2:

I have started a few days later than normal the last several months...maybe the Pred. or Humira I am on...maybe just the tax on my body being ill with CD.

Honestly, last thing we need during a CD dx or a flare is something else to have to try and figure out! :rof:

I hope you start soon and don't have to think about it anymore!

I used to get periods regularly when I had my IUD in even while I was very sick and anemic. I got it taken out last year due to monthly yeast infections(mainly due to crohns disease) Ever since it's gone I have had basically nonexistant periods. I missed a day on the pill and now it's moved to mid month instead of the end so I'm trying to get used to that as well.

I had a stomach bug last year, with copious amounts of diarrhoea, and that affected my period (late, then light flow and stopped early). The next month I was back to normal.

Hi, I find that my periods take longer to start and have gotten lighter. My crohns can be worse at this time of the month as well. According to the IBD nurse this is can happen so don't be alarmed, the pred will defintely be playing a part in this too.

Yes, I once went 3 month without my cycle-I thought I was pregnant for sure! Turns out I was anemic and not producing enough hormones to start, caused by a monstrous flare. I needed BCP to get things normal again.

Wow! That really has me thinking. Mountaingem and angrybird you both have good points! I also questioned if it could be the pred? I hate that drug with a passion! I was also told that flares are worst at that time of the month. I usually start around the 15th of the month, but last month I started on the 5th, right when I was diagnosed with Crohns. I haven't started yet.

Also if your below a certain weight your body won't release eggs since your unable to actually carry a baby properly so you also wouldn't have a period. I think it happens if your below 95 lbs but it's different for everyone.

That's interesting. Who knows what it could be. I weigh 109, but have lost a lot of weight in the last three years.

Prednisone definitely can cause wackiness with the menstrual cycle and if your BMI is too low that can affect it as well but if you have been getting it all along unless you lost a lot more weight recently it probably is the prednisone. Once you wean down your periods should return to normal.

i had no period for a year and a half during my last flare. my body just wasn't well enough to let me have one. now that i'm flaring again it has become really unpredictable and painful. i wish we only had to deal with one or another...

Mine finally started on the 12th, but of course the cramping cause my bowel movements to go crazy! Grrr! It's so frustrating. I worry myself because my doctor put me on Cipro to see if it would help with my weird fevers and clear up any infection that my Flagyl isn't helping, and I freak out over antibiotics because having c-diff before, it worries me I'll get it again. Weird bowel movements make me nervous.

I can appreciate that! I've had c.diff for a month and just starting to get better. Maybe you're doc will do the stool test? Don't even mess with Flagyl if it's c.diff-mine totally ignored it. Vancomycin is the way to go.

Also my GI told me to start the supplement Florastor, it actually binds c.diff to it and carries it out of your system. Of course once you have it you need antibiotics, but this will work with them, and you can take it daily to prevent reinfection.

Feel better, call the doc and keep us posted!:ghug:
