I was diagnosed last month with an aggressive Crohn's. But usually I just have mild cramping and gas, but I ate a steak and garlic mashed potatos last night and have been up all night vomiting and in pain. I took some digestive enzymes before dinner, but it seems like whenever I try taking stuff like that, I'm barfing my guts out. I had the same thing when I tried a lactaid pill, but not sure if it's the food talking or the digestive "helpers".

Hi there!
I just joined this forum and saw your point.... Sorry to hear about your condition. I found that Garlic and particularly red meat are major triggers! Garlic can definitely cause major stomach aches etc... (in my own experience) and was told by a doctor that red meat is a trigger for flares (and should be avoided during a flare - but that's definitely up to you... just a suggestion).
I found that when I have a flare, to stay on the BRAT diet.
Bananas
Rice (white)
Applesauce
Toast (white) no butter

try and stick to a plain diet at least for a week or so until your stomach clears..
I'm in the midst of a flare and been trying new things. I found that fish oil (taken daily) helps, just bought a ginger root extract... and gonna try accupuncture next week! I've heard good things.

Hope this helps... and oh yeah, careful of the dairy... another big trigger. I take everything lactose free now (yogurts, milk, cheese)

Best of luck!

Thanks Rayna! I thought that that might be the trigger. I know better now! I've eaten steak before without issue, but maybe the garlic and the steak combined was a bad idea.

I also have been taking salmon oil and coconut oil which seemed to be helping before this episode.

Pleasure! I know, I used to love eating steak but I've gone off it... who knows, maybe putting it in a juicer would help :) lol! I have yet to use my juicer! Another great thing for you to consider. Also, sometimes the butter in mashed potatos might also be a problem.... so many things to consider when going out!
