Hi all,

I am scheduled to have outpatient surgery for a fistula repair (flap advancement) tomorrow and my doctor's office has given me instructions to use an Fleets enema tonight before bed and one again tomorrow morning. I have recently heard news that they have been pulled from the shelves because they were causing kidney failure, but I figured maybe that problem was taken care of? When I went to Target last night, they did not have any Fleets enemas. I asked the pharmacist about it and she said that they had been pulled from the shelves. They did have Target brand enemas (phosphate) which she assured me were safe, so i purchased two. But I have to say that I am a little concerned. I have tried calling my surgeon's office, but they have not returned my call. Does anyone have any info on this subject??

Thanks Shantel. The nurse just called me back and said exactly what you said. It's the stuff you drink that is not safe. ( nice to know, BTW, I have used that as prep for a colonoscopy). Anyhoo, the lady at Target was confused...I'm good to go (pun very much intended!)

I Love that you can talk colon prep. with a sense of humor! That's awesome! You rock! Best of luck!

Thanks MG!! You pretty much have to have a sense of humor about it, don't ya? It's like Jimmy Buffet says: "If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane!"
