food advice anyone?

Hey I know everyone is different in what they find they can and can't eat with crohns but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what they find not so good to eat? Im still trying & testing to see which foods work or dont work so well with my body! so far I find that red meats, strong cheese & generally fatty greasy foods dont agree with my gut. Im just looking for some advice really which might make it a bit easier for me to figure out!

& also I do tend to love take aways & mcd's etc lol (im only a teen so im allowed lol!) so has anyone got any alternatives to nice tasty food which might be less harm on my gut?

any help would be appreciated! thank youuuuu :ytongue:

Removing dairy and gluten is a good place to start, at least for me.

With dairy, sometimes just removing milk helps and continuing with thecreams and yogurts are fine. Or you can go nuts and take everything out to see how you do.

Gluten can be hard, especially if you're still living with your parents and relying on them for meals. There are a lot of gluten-free alternatives out there. But really, anything made from flour (pasta, cookies, cakes, breads, etc) has gluten in it.

Best of luck!

There is a thread about safe and unsafe foods you may find helpful. I can never figure out how to do a link to another thread, but if you search you will find it.

She speaks of this thread

Kelly, to link to another thread:

1. Go to the thread you want to link to.
2. In your browser bar, select the full url such as http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=17707 with your mouse and hit "Control C" to copy that url.
3. Go to the post you want to link it on.
4. Write the post and then select the words you want to link with the actual url. Then go to the little bar at the top of your post and click the
createlink.gif
and paste the url you have saved by hitting "Control V".

That should do it :)

This stuff is hard to say because some people don't like to eat dairy.. some don't like eating meats.. some wheat and quite a few with strictures like to eat anything low fibre.. so not many fruits or vegs.

So if you follow them all you're not left with much else to eat! Unless you like rice...

People often advise to keep a food diary to see if eating any foods makes a difference to your symptoms. :)
