My son is 10years old just diagnosis with Crohns . He was dx with Arthritis in 2012. I am having a very hard time to find foods for him to eat .Can someone help us please

Welcome curlingmom,
Are you keeping a food dairy? We started with low residue diet. Chicken, white rice, eggs for example and slowly added things in one at a time add a new food for a few days and see how he reacts if all is good add another. If he has problems you go back and maybe try that food again later and see if you get symptoms again. You will soon know what foods affect him. Certainly some are forever off the menu for us and a lot of other on here - popcorn, seeds, nuts.
What medications is he currently on? When my son is feeling well we don't really have issues with food and he can eat pretty much whatever, although we try and stick with clean eating although when life gets hectic and sports, practice, etc get in the way we tend to stray.

There is a lot of info out there about an anti inflammatory diet. As long as he isn't in the middle of a flare and requiring a highly specific diet ie: low residue, you can start there and that might help both conditions. It is basically a no processed food, high plant food , very limited dairy diet. I have my daughter on it and she is doing amazingly well with her Crohns and joint pain. No luck with the psoriasis yet and that is supposedly an inflammatory condition but hers is drug induced so maybe not.

I think food is very individualized .
DS can't handle any raw veggies now .
We have tried a variety of Ibd diets non have made a difference for him it was just the right drug.
We still do grass fed beef
As much organic low ingredient processed food as possible but...

Food is very individualized and can change as you go through this journey. Broccoli used to be a no way for my kid can eat it since off EEN. Processed foods are a no, chicken, white rice, spinach ok.dairy is an absolute no. Food diary is always best. Your doc will ask too so its helpful.

I also suggest shakes like pediasure. At least you know he's getting what he needs!

Welcome to the forum, Curlingmom. I would echo what Jmrogers and the others have said. My son was dx'd just over a yr ago and didn't have any food issues prior to getting sick. After dx we did a low residue and lactose free diet. Now in remission he eats most things, but no popcorn or nuts, and not much processed foods. All the best to you and your son.
