Hi everyone, how can I figure out foods thats making my bowel worse and raising inflammation because every food I eat I don't see any issue including dairy and wheat as long as I am on the medicine. I see most of people complaining about the foods that can trigger symptoms in them how do you guys figure out this list. I am doing fine with all foods but I have a very bad inflammation and stricture which are not bothering me because of Remicade. Now my doctor has suggested to go for a surgery because of stricture after this news my family is under depression and from now on I want to follow some strict diet. Please help. I avoid dairy, wheat and now stopped eating meat also not sure what else can help me. Appreciate your inputs. Thanks

Hello I understand your point, I was in a similar situation. Do you have symptoms from your stricture?

I don't have any symptoms with the structure but I can feel at that spot it's trying hard to digest and pass the food. I usually go for remicade every 4 weeks but when I get late around 6th week I get all my symptoms back majorly chills and diarrhea

I stopped eating meat at one point and the improvement was immediate. I helped for about 2 years, but then symptoms returned.

Unfortunately if you have a stricture which is still present (and symptomatic) while otherwise in remission, modifying food isn't going to help it. Modifying your diet can make the possibility of a blockage less likely. The only way to resolve the stricture would be with surgery.

Also, being in remission should allow you to eat most foods - the foods alone shouldn't put you into a flare - rather the foods can aggravate already damaged/diseased tissue and then make them worse. Think about it this way - for example - drinking grapefruit juice with a mouth sore will actually aggravate the mouth sore so it doesn't heal, and possibly make it feel worse (Actually my own experience!!)..... stop drinking the juice and the sore heals...at which time no issues drinking the juice again. Make sense?

Same thing with me I stopped meat for one year assuming meat is the big culprit but my symptoms came back within an year when I was not on medicine
