I barely got any sleep last night as I had to repeatedly go to the washroom all night. I counted 8 times. I also had the feeling I still had to go in between.

I am due to get a Remicade infusion on Wed. Should I be calling my GI to report this? Should I be checked for a UTI?

I suspect it has more to do with fistulas. My abscess flared back up Thursday night, and I have been having pain in my side on and off for the last week. I feel that the "stuff" coming out of my abscess also exits vaginally, I can feel it bubbling out and see the evidence on the pad.

I told my Dr. that I suspected that and he said he was going to order an MRI. I know from experience an MRI can take a year to get in Halifax.

It doesn't seem as bad right now, but I am seeking advice as to calling the Dr. or taking a wait and see approach. I am quite new to Crohn's, was diagnosed in Sept., so I don't know if I am expected to call and report this stuff, especially where I am due for treatment in two days, or just wait and see what happens.

My guess is that if you have any type of fistula in the vagina that is leaking, that makes it very likley you are going to get a UTI due to the bacteria getting in your urethra and in the bladder. I would maybe ask your doc to send a sample of your urine to culture. Sounds like you have a UTI. Ughh, they SUCK! I am very prone to UTI's. So much that I have to be constantly on a low dose antibiotic daily tp prevent them... Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Jo. Sorry to hear you're having these symptoms :-( I agree with lhurt. It would be best to report these symptoms to your GI. If it is a UTI ( I had a lot of these because of a bowel to bladder fistula ) it's best to get it treated - usually with antibiotics - as leaving them untreated can damage the kidneys.
A year seems an awful long time to wait for an MRI. Maybe with these issues they will be able to bring it forward for you.

I don't miss Atlantic Canada health care and wait times! I got in quicker for my MRI because the fellow doc that was on when I went for a follow up decided to call imaging to see where it was, they magically gave me an appointment time right away.

(Horrified) A year wait for an MRI??

If you feel as if you need to urinate right after urination a UTI is a definite possibility. This is assuming you are able to evacuate the bladder completely and are not leaving urine behind as can happen with urethral strictures or prostate inflammation.

One concern I would have though is if you are urinating frequently, not because you feel you have to.... but because you actually have to. If you are dumping huge volumes of water by urinating I would definitely have your blood sugar checked. Uncontrolled diabetes can cause frequent urination (large volumes of urine).

Hi Jo did you get in touch with your doctor? As for the wait and see approach have you been spiking a temp? I know you mentioned frequent urination but are you passing much or is it just dribbles and the feeling you need to go? Pain in kidneys? Do you notice lots of bubbles or particles in your urine? I would drop a urine sample to your doc to be checked uti and kidney infections make you feel pretty bad and untreated can cause long term damage best safe than sorry, keep us posted on how you get on.

Hi there. I did actually go to my family Dr. on Monday and she did a litmus test in her office and it was positive for blood, a little bit white cells and negative for the word that starts with "N" (I forget that one) so she said it is possible, but not certainly an infection and prescribed me an antibiotic, and I drove my sample over to the lab at the hospital to get it cultured.

I was passing quite a bit, but I was drinking water. I have had pain in kidneys- yesterday on left and then both sides, last week one day on the right side, but it moved to the front/side after a few hours.

I do get bubbling there sometimes-I feel that it is the same stuff that comes out of the abscess.

So, my Remicade is postponed for two weeks. This morning the pain/pressure has subsided at the moment but I am utterly exhausted and feel drained after a full night of sleep. I was really looking forward to my treatment!

It certainly sounds like infection, what anti biotic are you on? If you don't feel any better in the next day or two I think you should get in touch with your doctor again.

It's most frequent after having water. For instance, I had a glass of water before heading to the doctor the other day to ensure I would be able to go at the right time. I had three full pees in the 20 minutes I was there, and another at the hospital ten minutes later.

But if I haven't just drank water, it's more a feeling of still have to go. Even while sitting there I feel like there should be more coming out.

She put me on Macrobid-she says she prescribes this one because you don't get yeast infections with it.

She thinks she will have the results back before the end of the week and will let me know. She said if it's not better or worse in a few days go back(should feel better in 48 hours).

I've had two MRI's before-I went to Antigonish the first time as the Dr.'s thought I had MS so I didn't want to wait a year. I think I waited 2 or 3 months.

The second one wasn't an urgent one - it was to find out what was going on with my back (herniated and bulging discs) and it took a year to get. lol

I don't know if it still takes that long or not, but I haven't gotten a call lol
