Getting a port tomorrow!

The docs have finally figured out how to order my port and I'm getting a power port placed tomorrow! A little nervous as they said it's usually just done under local and not sedation... But anxious for easy vein access! I've been getting Remicade for 5 yrs and am in the ER/hospital so often, so my veins have quit... My infusion center staff is excited too - they always have trouble as well! Hoping for sedation though tomorrow, and that they'll be able to get an IV line in to sedate me!!

Hi. I've always found they access my firms easier with local anesthetic. I had a Hickman cath put in in my early teens. I don't recall any problems with it going in. Hope all goes well for you.
