My 24 year old son w crohns recently moved to Florida. He's had a lot of trouble w GI docs being able to order remicade for him. His current infusion center is closing and doc is having him go to a rheumatologist for remicade. In CO his GI ordered it, he went to an infusion center and saw his GI once a year since he is in remission. He's new on his job and it's hard for him to take off work for all these appointments. The GI wants to see him every three months...doesn't even examine him, just orders blood work. Any suggestions on infusion centers or docs w good relationships w infusion centers?

Hey there! Did your son have any luck? I actually am a 22 year old living about 30 miles north of West Palm, I just recently got established with a Dr. in Jupiter, and was recommended to get remicade and am in the process of trying to get my insurance to approve it (I have Florida Blue).

We finally found a doc who does the infusions in his office. His name is Dr. Katz and I believe he's in the Boynton Beach area. My son has been happy with everything so far. He also has Florida Blue. Thanks for the info in case it's ever necessary.

That's great, glad to hear! Did he have trouble getting Florida Blue to approve it? I am in the process of appealing it right now.

How close is he to West Palm? I was going to an infusion center in West Palm and it's probably the best infusion center I've ever been too. It may be too far for him.

My first job was in Deerfield Beach too. Just moved to Naples year and a half ago.

The Rheumy's name was Dr. Virshup. The name of the nurse doing the infusions was Lisa. She's probably the best overall nurse I've ever had.

In Naples there are so many old people here that there is actually a home health care service that I was able to get to do the infusions. Now, I get my infusions in the comfort of my own room.
