I am experimenting with a gluten free diet. I am eating whole grain but concerned side side if these foods are high in fiber

Hey Guts -

Doesn't whole grain contain gluten?

I have trouble with whole grain (like, really whole grain - nuts and twigs kind of stuff) as it is just too rough for me now.

Lots of Chronies have done well with gluten free diets. Good luck!

Oh, great! There are so many gluten free products out there now, it's much easier to eat this way than years ago.

One of my favorite gluten free products is Quinoa, which acts like a great but it's a small berry. It's very versatile and has a lot of protein.

I'll be curious to read your results. I've done some reading on the gluten free diets, and truthfully I'm not sure if I can do it (junk-food-junkie...trying really hard though!). But there's so much new information coming out about how detrimental gluten can be that I have to wonder!

I have 2 friends that are on gluten free diets and have learned from them one word of caution...watch your labels. The FDA doesn't regulate statements in reference to gluten (yet), so be careful. Look for the Celiac Society's logo if you're unsure. The Celiac Society also publishes a yearly grocery guide to make shopping easier.

Chex has 5 gluten-free varieties and they're all yummy! I eat them as a snack, too, when I need something to munch on.

Good Luck to you!!!

My mother insists I go on a gluten free diet, so I will be waiting to see how you feel. Not starting mine until after May 15.

I just took a walk downtown and noticed a new alley store--It's a gluten free store. I bought a bag of chocolate covered pretzels for $6.00 and I'm going to try them when I'm craving chocolate. I wonder if they will taste different--probably not. Bye the way a gluten free diet is not cheap but I agree that it is probably good for people with Crohns.

I am sensitive to Gluten although I do not have Celiac Disease. If I get a whole lot of it, I can tell the difference. My daughter does have Celiac proper.

This is probably a bigger problem than is generally recognized. Even if you do not eliminate gluten, it is probably a good idea to limit it as much as possible.

I have been gluten free for a few months now. I have never felt better!!
And I dont just mean gluten free, but I still eat "gluten free bread" I stick to as close to a paleo diet as I can.
It has been far easier than I expected!

I have been reading some articles saying that everyone is at least a little bit gluten sensitive.

Im very glad to here you are trying gluten free diet and are on natural meds aswel from me it was the only thing that worked and i still follow it today.
i strongly sugest you try Spelt product out it is a heavy grain but is the only grain in the world that is always organic no matter how it is grown or the chemicals sprayed on it as it has a natural filter. Very neet plant
I also strongly sugest if you want maximum results in about 3 month time stay away from cows milk (yogurt, cheese, butter things like that are ok) and Suger aswell as gluten. Its not easy but if you love yourself enough to be heathy try it then once you feel great you can start having it more often
