So been fine all day at work, I come out for drinks and been in the toilet 3 times already and I can feel it being many more all night, just annoying and bouncers and bar staff must wonder why I keep going to the toilet x

It's miserable sometimes. I hate being the person who drinks water in the pub! Alcohol often seems to have a very bad effect on defective guts unfortunately.

If it's somewhere that I can have a semi-private word with the barman/woman (or should it be barperson??), I ask for a tall glass, lime juice, lots of ice, filled up with water and a slice of lemon or lime. It looks like a real drink and I can sip it slowly.

I will also have taken a couple of loperamide/Imodium or whatever before I went out.

I have to stay away from alcohol. Especially beer which wrecks havoc on my guts. A few years ago if I was feeling great GI-wise I could maybe have 1 vodka drink once in a blue moon. Now I don't even risk it, not worth the pain it causes the next day.:poo:

Im off out on a works do on saturday night. I will be having one alcoholic drink..as thats my limit without issues the next day. Then il be be on soft drinks, which tend to work out as or more expensive than alcohol..or at least they do here in the uk pubs clubs n venues.
Im going to the dogs (greyhound racing)..and we are having a meal which should be fun as after a few fork full's il be full... oh the joys of being a crohnie 😕

This was one thing that's been hard for me too. I like to have an occasional drink, But the more I look back the more I feel kinda crappy the next day. So I guess no popcorn no alcohol.. Those are my two bad foods/drinks that I like to enjoy on occasion.. But probably wont anymore

No beer for me, but I do have a glass of red wine with the meal each day and if anything at all it helps me. I can also tolerate a scotch. My Crohn's is further down the line, rather than higher up the GI tract. My understanding is that the higher up the GI tract the inflammation is, the tolerance for alcohol goes down.

Well, I must be extremely lucky then as alcohol doesn't bother me at all! It has in the past, first red wine and then beer but now I can have both again without any issues.
My disease is in and above the ileum.
Interestingly when I had issues with alcohol the disease was in the colon only.

Be careful of the snacks/foods at the pubs/bars. They are strategically picked to make you thirsty and buy more drinks, which usually means spicy foods that could aggravate the piping.

There's a reason why wings are prevalent at bars.

Other than a 1/2 glass of wine every few months, I don't drink. Never bothered the piping but no two IBD patients have the same triggers.

As a college student the pressure of drinking is all around me. My family is also big on getting together and sharing a drink and having some laughs. I have learned that once I have a drink, my bowels start becoming active. Some nights are better than others, but the next day or two is always the worst. Of course saying "don't drink!" is what most people would say, but there is nothing wrong with enjoying yourself. (As long as you don't overdo it) I've gotten a lot better at saying no and knowing my limits, but I do enjoy having a drink with family/friends. It's a tough subject unfortunately for people with this disease. Enjoy your day!!
