Got to know about three weeks ago that i have made it into university to study to become a medical doctor - starting in about one month. Lots of things going on! Have to move to another city 700 km (400 miles) away, packing up and preparing mentally for five and a half years of school. Very excited! ...of course. This is something i have been working towards for a very long time.

At that time - three weeks ago - i had been symptom free since october 2005. That was when i got my first infusion of remicade. And i mean totally free of symptoms! Remicade has worked so well on my body! Almost to the point that i "forgot" that i had crohns.

Fast forward to two weeks ago: Starting to have diffuse symptoms. Ache in my lower stomache, loose stools - you know the story. Thought it was something like a bacteria i had picked up on my recent vacation.

Feeling like absolute crap today. Seems my crohns is coming back to haunt me :D

Or is it? Have any other of you had the same experience? Beeing on remicade - feeling just great, healthy and symptom free - and in just one week have your health deterioate to a huge flare-up? Is it possible that it "stops working" that fast?

Anyway, Im off to the doctor tomorrow to have an infusion of remicade. We'll se what happens.

Have you considered the stress that is causing you to flare, more than what your current meds have been able to control? Moving is on the list of major life stresses, and not only are you moving you are moving to endure a very hard line of education. You may want to try to learn or teach yourself stress reducers, such as meditation or yoga. As I do believe your stress will not decrease anytime soon.

Have considered the stress factor. And yes, i should really try to learn yoga (not enough time :D).

but i got my infusion and now i feel fine again. Luckily.

I say stress too, that's what about a year ago I think caused this current flare, when I switched positions at work when some plans for the new department fell through...2 weeks after the horrific news, I saw symptoms, and they've been there since.

5 years sounds nice, I always hear about 8+ years for docs around here...

Be very thankful you responded to Remicade so well, it was boasted as a miracle cure for me, and they gave it 5 long months to do it's thing, and did next to nothing for my condition, now Cimzia is next up in 2 weeks.
