I had surgery for my abscess. From everything I read the pain is supposed to subside right after surgery. My pain is just as bad as when I went it. I have a drain which probably is causing pain plus the incision but I thought I'd find a major reduction. I hope this doesn't mean I'll need more work.

Hope this pain subsides quickly for Noguts.are you still in hospital or are you back home, wishing and sending you lots of healing thoughts

Sailor I have the tube, I think it's stitched in but he said it may fall out. He couldn't predict how many days it would stay in. It hurts and bleeds.

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry. My drains caused horrible muscle pain for the first while after being placed, I was given valium 10mg 3xday as a muscle relaxant which helped where painkillers didn't. Drains are miserable in and of themselves but I'm so sorry this one is acting up! Why does he think it'll fall out? Is the abscess really close to the skin...? I hope it gets better soon! xx

It's not too close but he said they fall out naturally in a few days. Passing stool is the worst it's so painful and always starts a new round of bleeding.

I have have had the stitched in tube twice and it was horrid the first one was a hard rubber and I pulled on it because I was removing the gauze and grabbed it at the same time. I only lasted a day and a half before I had them remove it. The second one was a soft tube and still only stayed in a couple days. I don't think they understand how painful those tubes are.

I didn't know there was a difference in the tubes mine feels pretty hard so maybe it's hard plastic? All I know is going to the bathroom feels like someone is ripping a crazy glued piece from my butt. I am in such pain after it!

I have the next available appointment. I just hope everything went right and this pain is not because its not drained properly.

Hello, super sorry you are hurting. It can be so awful. Each one can very SO much. The first one I had was a nightmare of pain. I would scream with each bm. Then it had issues, won't go into details but I actually found something that helped. Organic barley green, powder form - 2x a day. Mixed with grape juice. Sounds crazy but it was the only thing I changed and started healing. I was doing sitz baths constantly then in epsom salt after the first few days then added aloe to the warm water too. A peri bottle was bery useful, ask for one if you don't have one. Keep the area as clean as possible. Buy some cotton washcloths to use to pat dry after warm water rinse after each bathroom use. Do not use wipes, most have alcohol and will most likely sting. Eat soft foods, easy to digest. Non acidic, no spicy, no grain fiber. Think applesauce, mashed potatoes , pudding, Nutrition drinks, etc.
The next one I had was so much different. Way less pain. I think the location makes a lot of difference and how complex they are. I was so afraid it was going to be like the first one. It is why they can each be so different.
Hang in there. I hope you start feeling better very soon.

Bery was supposed to be very, feelin like Strawberry Shortcake lol , awe to be a goofball! sorry

Noguts,

I know your pain. A few years ago I had two fistulotomies. The most pain was during/after a BM. I found that the only releif was from long hot baths with epson salt.

It took about two weeks until I felt better.

Best of Luck!
