I am just wondering if anyone has tried or heard of a positive result using wheat grass?
As often as people come up with ideas for improving our symptoms, along comes another "remedy." I was recently told about using wheat grass as an aid for healing in Crohn's and Colitis by someone who swears by it. He buys live grass from a local supplier who delivers to his home weekly and juices into a drink form. He says it saved his life. He provided me with web sites citing tons of health benefits, though it all seemed rather hokey to me. It's not exactly inexpensive either. I was told I'd need 1--2 pounds per week at $15/ pound.
I'm not a huge believer in non-pharma remedies. Additionally, it seems so many things that work for one person don't work for others.
I would welcome your insight.
Thank you
Sara

I think there are health benefits but considering I had it daily and then got diagnosed I kind of stopped. I wouldnt be opposed to drinking it again because it's probably not related.

wheat grass cant cure your your crohns. But it is very healthy if consumed daily. If your tummy can tolerate it, I would say you should give it a try. Crohns makes the body weak due to malabsorption. Taking wheat grass can definitely be beneficial to overall heath, but I dont think it would do much for the crohns.

I took it four times. Twice I took it fresh, and twice I took it from a high quality powder. All four times I got sick. I won't try again for quite a while.

Hi sara i talk about it in an other thread.

heres a research with positive results for UC and wheat grass juice:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11989836

Ive been on it since about 15 or so days, with no problem at all. i ve started double dose today.

Thanks for your reply. Good to know that it seems a positive thing for UC.
Have you seen any studies related to crohns? What I saw claimed results but didn't substantiate the claims with any kind of study data.

I didnt do much more research, as it was already a long time ago I was convinced of its beneficial effect on the body. But I dont think there was a serious research with crohns, just like the one with UC. Research on food and nutriment and disease is extremly lacking unfortunately and doctors have a total of 1 or 2 hours of nutrition class throughout their studies...
Wheat grass juice is praised by naturopaths, detox centers and raw food nutrition specialists. of course if anyone experiement bad side effect, it may indicate a personal intolerance to the herb and therefore therapy should be stopped in my opinion. Whenever introducing anything new to the body, its always best to go very gradually to test for intolerance. But for most people, there should nt be any problem consuming it. Its fiber free and also gluten free.

hello, i haven't tried wheat grass but have tried barley green. The said difference between fresh over dried is enzymes. The convenience of dried has been easier and less expensive for me.
I have had a very positive experience with organic barley grass.

best to you ;)

I used to drink this before and felt that it really helped with energy, I felt much more less tired. Maybe I will try it again.

I bought the wife a specific wheat grass juicer - wheat grass is easy to grow in pots or trays if you get any sun at all. Juicer is hard to use for the few drops of juice we get.

I think it mostly tastes nasty - rates right up there with Miralax.
