I have been off Pred for 2 days now, but I have been having these really bad headaches for the past week or so. Is this just a coincidence? or could they be from getting off Prednisone?

I am on Pentasa right now and nothing else .. could that be causing them? I have been taking Tylenol for it and that helps, but I dont want to be taking them every day..

I also havent had a 'good' BM for a few days now .. results of getting off pred? very annoying, as things were going really good for a few weeks.

Im also getting this wierd discomfort in my throat .. almost like a sore throat is coming on and at times that discomfort moves into my chest. I dont know .. its very hard to explain. I feel it more when Im walking down or up stairs, if I get up out of bed / from a chair ect .. I dont know if I would classify it as pain, I mean .. it doesnt feel good, it doesnt hurt alot, it just feels wierd.

I also just feel tired. I was only diagnosed two months ago, so all of this seems new to me .. I dont know if its normal or whats is causing it .. Not fun at all, but any imput would help.

Hey New Guy

Welcome to the forum :)

Not sure about the prednisolone causing headaches, I'm still on mine and can't remember what it was like the last time I came off them, it was years ago. Hopefully someone else will chip in with a bit more info :)

Whenever I struggle to go to the loo I always find a proper filter/cafetiere coffee does the trick, it can be painful but at least it gets it out!!!

Could the weirdness in your throat/chest be acid relux? Is it worse when you lie down? It feels to me like a pressing down on my chest, a heaviness. Acid also burns the gullet, hence the feeling of a sore throat coming on. Worth a visit to the doctors to have it checked out. Good luck and best wishes.

Hi, New Guy!

I would say your headaches are probably from the Pred withdrawal, but Pentasa does llist headaches as a side effect. So, could be that too. If it gets too bothersome, I would consult your doc. As you said, I wouldn't want to be taking Tylenol too often either. Hopefully it'll go away soon form the Pred withdrawal, but dont' hesitate to call the doc if it doesn't.

As far as not having a good BM, do you mean you can still pass some, but it doesn't feel like you've gone enough? Or are you having more diarrhea? Are you still passing gas? Are you experiencing any abdominal discomfort/distention on top of the BM troubles? It's hard to say, on its own, what it could be related to. Though, if you are finding it difficult to pass a satisfying BM, you're not passing gas, and are experiencing increased abdominal discomfort/cramping/distention, I would call the doc. With being off the Pred, you could be experiencing an increase in inflammation which could cause a blockage. If you start to vomit or have a fever head to the ER immediately.

And your other symptoms, I was also going to say something about acid reflux (GERD). Have you looked that up to see if the symptoms sound familiar? Unfortunately, Crohn's can effect us anywhere from the colon up to the esophagus. So, keep a close eye on any other new symptoms, but I would say mention these to your doc as well. Hopefully it's something more like acid reflux.
