Well I logged out after reading some posts and deciding some of your stories are so bad I shouldnt come on here whinging about my little flare up. Then I remembered on here everyone is equal and I could really do with some support and finding someone who knows what it feels like
So I'm Lucy from the UK diagnosed with Crohns /Colitis on my 1st wedding anniversary (1998) exactly one year after experiencing blood loss on my honeymoon.
The next 3 years invloved getting pregnant, hospitalised, IV steroids, blood transfusions, birth of baby I never bonded with really (but love to bits), missing her major milestones, hospitalised twice more before she was 18 months old. Finally referred to stoma nurse and tried every treatment they could think of (not the really nasty ones) and liquid diet for 5 weeks and then it all cleared up. After all the stress my husband and I split up within a couple of months of recovery and divorced the next year. My gorgeous daughter went to live with him (OUCH!).
Had another relationship with a violent man, fell pregnant, went against docctors advice to go back on al the meds (Asacol, Azathioprine) and enjoyed nearly 8 years of remission. Selfishly convinced myslef it would never bother me again! Also had 3rd child, split with man, 1st daughter came home, remarried my husband 2006! Have had 2 more children with him!!
Bleeding started in this last 5th pregnancy and kept hoping it would disappear. Started Asacol enemas a couple of months ago as was visiting bathroom 13 times a day. Now down to 4/5 times (2 today so far) but still SO hard as baby is 6 months and all my children are educated at home by me.
As a result of my treatment the first time around I have no faith in doctors and have been trying lots of things to avoid even these enemas. I have a review next week and then referral to consultant which I'm terrified about. I need to be well and with my children and baby.
I have started losing my appetite which makes me depressed as I love food and find nausea hard to cope with, I'm tired, anaemic and my children are desperate for things to get back to normal as the pregnancy was tough. Am up several times in the night with diahorrea tho my baby sleeps through the night. its getting hard to keep my head above water...
Sorry to babble on so long. I knew it would all come out if I started but ther e we are - that's me!!
