Hello everyone, my names robbie, I'm 27 years old, from Dundee (Scotland) but now live in Manchester, I was diagnosed 6 and a half years ago with crohns disease after a mis-diagnosis of IBS, I was taken into hospital and quickly had part of my bowel taken out, within a week I went septic and was given a colostomy bag, 9 months later it was reversed, I've been up and down with the disease these past 6 years and have had my fair share of treatments, currently I'm on humira injections and low dose naltrexone (LDN), 2 nights ago I stupidly ate corn on the cob and have been bedded with pain since yesterday afternoon so any advice on that would be welcome, other than that I look forward to getting to know everyone and hearing different experiences, I've only just moved so if you don't see my name pop up too often it's cause I'm posting from my iPhone til the Internet gets hooked up, thanks

Robbie

Hiya Robbie
and welcome fellow Brit, not so far from me!

Wow, you've been thro the wringer! Sorry, don't know what to suggest, cos I can't eat corn! Maybe you should just wait and see? Til it comes out? What would you normally take for pain?
Well done for getting Humira! Some Brits on here are having difficulties with approval.

:nonono:Robbie, Robbie, Robbie...don't they call that masochistic, when one purposefully inflicts pain on oneself. :voodoo: Corn, really? Guess what, we all do it occasionally. Myself, it's corn or beans, and sometimes popcorn or raw veggies. There's just too many good foods off limits to us. Sometimes you just gotta go for it, even if the pleasure is only short-lived. It's good to hear you've recovered for the most part from the traumatic beginning. How's the Humira working for you? I just had my initial injections yesterday. So far, so good. Haven't noticed any improvement, but no adverse reaction either. Time will tell I suppose. Glad you found your way here. There are people of all ages and from all over on this forum. Everyone is wonderful and very informative. It's great to have a place to comisserate, you know, where other's can empathize. We talk about it all, so don't hesitate to ask anything. Browse the threads, get to know the people. Welcome aboard. See you around. :bigwave:

:welcome:

The only thing I can take for pain is paracetemol, anything stronger backs me up, I'm getting on quite well with humira, don't worry if it's not had any quick reaction, it usually takes a couple of days to kick in and takes a little while to build up in your system, at least for me anyway, hope it does the trick for you though

Hi Robbie and :welcome:

Good to see you here. I'm gald to hear that things have settled down for you after a very rocky start! Well except for maybe the corn, I guess you may just have to poop it out!

Good luck and welcome aboard!

Take care, :)
Dusty

Hi Robbie, welcome!! From an I-phone huh? It would take me a week to type that on a phone :)!! Good luck and stick around!!

Oh well, you had me fooled

I'm sorry, I'm just feeling spunky today, it's been a rough week, but I'm beginning to feel like myself again.
