hello

Been Sick for a couple months I was told I have crohns about a month ago they have me on stairroids but not working yet.

hi welcome to the forum!!

sorry you're having a rough time right now, i know its a lot to take in. we're all familiar with steroids here. if they're not working and you have given them a week or so to work, you need to go back to your doctor, one of the most important things to remember when you have crohn's is to not leave yourself to get worse because you can get worse very quickly and that can lead to more problems. make sure you speak up and let your doctor know if you are unwell or if the treatment isn't working. they may just need to increase the dose, if that does not work there's many other treatments they can offer you so don't worry.

welcome again to the forum! :)

Thanks the doctor told me to give it 3 weeks. and if not better to come see him , thanks so much for the suport, I have a great wife at home but I just dont think you get it unless you have it

you will get plenty of support here, feel free to write a post anytime you need to. it's good you have the support at home but i agree, having support from those who can fully understand what you're going through is a great help.
i hope the steroids work for you and once they've began to work your doctor will hopefully start you on a more long-term treatment, as steroids are usually used during flare-ups and not ideal for long periods of time.
you may also want to look into more about diet, some crohn's sufferers find certain foods make them worse than others, and some find that they can't eat certain things that they ate before they were diagnosed.

thanks Im starting to do research on diet the last couple days a lot to take in but geting there thanks again and goodnight time to get out of here and try and catch a couple min. with family before they all fall asleep

Hi and welcome! To be honest, I think you should see an improvement with steroids sooner than 3 weeks. How many mg are you taking? Are you taking any maintenance medication along with the steroids? As littlefreebird said, steroids can't be taken long term, and you will need a maintenance drug to keep you well and prevent future flare ups.

they had me on liada for about 3 weeks then took me off and put me on stairroids 3mg 3pills so I think 9mg or they may be 1mg to = 3 I dont know the bottle says 3mg and I take 3 pills in the morning.

Well, if it is 9mg, that is an extremely low dose. So, this could be why you haven't seen an improvement. Most people start at 40mg.

Msselba, welcome to the forum. What type of steroids are you on? If it's prednisone, then yes 9 mg is a low dose, but if it's Entocort then 9 mg is an appropriate dose. It sounds to me like you're probably on Entocort, and if that's the case it can usually take anywhere from a week to a month for you to feel a difference. When I was on it, it took about 9 days for me to start feeling better. I know that there's at least one person on the forum for whom it took a full month though. So keep taking it and give it a chance, and I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you I do need the help but left town for weekend and had a lot of work to catch up on. The Stairroids tell have me on in called Budesonide 3mg take 3 every day been on them sence 6-29-11

ok -so it is entocort...according to wiki at least......

Hope you start to feel better soon....on a side note - I know someone in Pahrump who has horses.....is it a big town/area?
