Hi. My name is Erica. I'm 25 and I was diagnosed with moderate to severe crohns when I was 21. It sucks...I was very sick for about 8 months before I was diagnosed. It took me almost 2 years to get it in control and even then that's not totally true. I am in pain everytime I eat...going to the bathroom is horrible and there are times when I really think I won't make it to the bathroom..the only relief I found was when I was introduced to smoking marijuana. When I smoke I am almost pain free in minutes and I can eat. It's amazing...is it ok? I don't live in the wonderful state of California where it's basically normal to smoke. Where I live it's frowned on... Anyone out there?

Hello Erica and welcome to the forum :)

Are you still under the care of a GI? Are you on any medications for your crohns? When was the last time you had any testing done to see what is going on inside?

I have not tried marijuana myself but know others here have and found it benificial, we do have a sub forum for it under our treatment section so perhaps have a look here for further info:http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16.

Hi Erica and welcome to the community!

I'm sorry to hear you're still struggling. Like Angrybird, I'm curious what medications you're on.

In addition to the forum she mentioned for medical marijuana, we have a thread dedicated to it here you may want to read. In my opinion, it's a fantastic medication and it's so sad that it's illegal for many people :(

Have you tried making any dietary changes?

All my best to you.

Hi and thank you for the welcomes! I am not on any medication now and that's because I took better to the herbal way of things. When i first was diagnosed i was on 3 medications, the only one i remember off the top of my head was Entocort? I hated thT time...i was miserable,, i remembering fainting alot everytime i went tothebathroom i was bleeding i gained so much weight ughhh it was bad. I have been on Prednisone and I didn't like the results either. The GI started talking about Humira when I said I cannot do mess anymore. Then I started smoking,, which to me is a true God send. It helps with the pain almost rit away I am able to eat and I feel it makes my bowel activity better...(weird?) if I smoke I don't have the sensation to use the bathroom. For almost 1 year I was feeling great..7 weeks ago I started feeling pain again and as these last 7 weeks have gone its gotten worse. Yesterday was so bad! Does this mean I am out of remission? I've been smoking a little more then normal between today and yesterday because the pain, I've also committed to TRYING a liquid diet? I have changed how I eat David ;) I don't touch red meat greasy food sugary foods sodas...things like that... I guess I have been trying to figure all this out alone..

Thanks for reading guys! I never knew there were groups for this...I am really excited to meet people goi through all this too!

Smoking cigarettes or medical marijuana?

It does indeed sound like you are out of remission :( What are your thoughts on heading back to the GI so they can evaluate what the state of your disease is?

I only smoke marijuana never touched cigs! I am trying a liquid diet out but I'm not sure if I'm taking enough in. I also made an appt with the doc ;) any ideas for a liquid diet? I started this Saturday and I haven't had nearly as much stomach pain ;)
