My 17 year old crohn's daughter went to France in a little bit of a flare. She just messaged me saying it is getting worse but thinks it is just the food or water. Her gi has ok'd loperamide but of course she forgot to pack it. Does anyone know the brand name of a drug she can pick up in France? In the us we use Imodium.

In France loperimide is marketed as Imossel. I'm not sure but I think it may require a prescription in France.

For how long will she be there? Is it a school trip? I just did a bit of research and found something called tiorfast. I'm thinking she speaks French so could ask at a drugstore? Good luck.

Yes. She is there on a school trip. She does speak french. Thanks so much for the names of those drugs. I will get them to her and hopefully they will help. She comes home next Monday.

Nothing yet. Our school district has a pretty strict med policy. No meds not even otc unless you have a doctors form. So she has tried to shake the teacher so she could duck into a pharmacy but no luck. I spent most of the day today trying to call from California to Ct to get the doc to sign a form and send it to France. The problem is they keep moving and by the time the doc was available to fax they had left that hotel. Grr.

The good news is she is participating in all the activities and enjoying her trip. She tells me she packed plenty of underwear and zip loc baggies.
