Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem..and if "yes" then please PLEASE tell me how to make it end!
My stomach is looking like I have a basketball under my shirt and Ohhhh the pain in my tummy (upper middle mostly)! It's not as bad when I am sitting but when I stand up I walk bent in half it hurts so bad. I have went to the Dr. before over this and after a listen and a quick X-Ray it's usually that I am full of air, here's some simethicone and go on home...This started 3 days ago, I was up all night the first night with some nausea to go with the pain, then I threw up...which made me feel a little better... I am having BM's so I don't think it's a blockage.... If you are a woman...It feels JUST LIKE labor! The pains come and go like a contraction and everything! Only difference is this has been happening for 3 days and no baby crying yet, lol.
I do watch what I eat...but apparently I cheated...So wondering...Does anyone else get it like this or am I flaring up or what? I had surgery 7 years ago and really no major problems since, other than the normal fatigue, joint pain, muscle aches....
I am not taking anything for the Crohn's right now.
Any ideas on getting this on through my system? I have tried walking, stretching, and well, here I am..
Thanks guys/gals and I hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas.
Hugz!
BTW, I have been eating Simethicone tabs and it's not helpin... :(

Hmmm yeah I have something similar...

The only way I can describe it is my stomach feels like it is set in concrete and cant expand and it happens over several days... It does come and go but there are times its just constantly there and it doesnt matter what I do either.. Walking, travelling in the car etc etc all jar and aggravate it too and I end up distended and cant get comfortable in any way.

I have talked to my GI and my GP about this. My GP has given me lansoprazole to deal with any potential excess acid as my stomach "pain" got worse and I did have horrendous acid when I ended up back on pred again. But it isnt and wasnt the sole cause.

My gastro nurse thinks I might have some inflammation crohns wise in my stomach and keeps raising it with me and I eventually got so fed up before Xmas that I ended up doing an 8 page letter and physically giving it to my GI about all the issues I have including this stomach problem.

In the meantime Tonya I avoid anything that I know irritates it food and drink wise, I take painkillers if I need to, I did find peppermint oil in hot water sipped does help at times (its one the nurses use on the gastro ward I was on for bloating etc) and my GP told me a couple of weeks ago the latest research is peppermint for IBS too (oh joy lol).

Hope my wafflings help Tonya and you get some relief soon honey.

((hugs))

This is what happened to me week before last when I ended up going into the ER.

It was due to a flare. ((HUGS)) YES it hurts like hell and I wish I could give you better news, but you might want to go in and get it checked out.

You could be flaring.

Soup -- interesting you mentioned the peppermint oil! I've been seeing a lot about peppermint oil lately. It's supposed to "help" with stomach issues. I do like a nice candy cane once in a while too! Wonder if there's peppermint oil caplets sold anywhere? Probably will be soon.

i find that interesting about the peppermint oil too.

i have been through phases where i just CRAVE mint. always brushing my teeth cause the toothpaste tasted so good. and seriously inhaling boxes of altoids. i could eat a whole one in a day.
wondering if my body was tryin to tell me something....

Well... I ended up going to the ER Christmas night.I was given a CT Scan and told I had a blockage. The ER wanted to admit me and do surgery right then! I told them I wanted to go to a different hospital. They then sent me an hour and a half away. I was admitted there early Friday. I got the NG Tube and IV put in. First time for the NG experience and OMG I hope I NEVER have to do it again! Anyways, They tell me I have to wait til Monday for a colonoscopy...I am on morphine and don't care at this point. Sunday night they bring in the Golytely. Now I am starting to like the NG tube. lol. They put the Golytely right down the tube and I don't have to drink it!! YAY!! BUT I bloat up like I'm 6 months pregnant and nothing goes through for 5 hours! Then I am up all night on the toilet. :( Ok...Monday morning... A GI comes in and says that he would rather do a small bowel follow through!! AFTER I AM ALREADY PREPPED FOR THE COLONOSCOPY! UGH! But I can understand His reasons so I just go with it...I am NPO and I sit ALL day waiting for the "SBFT" At 6PM they come in to tell me that they couldn't fit me in...OMG! Can I hurt someone now? So Dr. tells me I can eat something but try to be gentle. Well apparently I am not completely blocked or the Golytlely wouldn't have made it thru...so I eat a turkey sandwich! lol. I am NPO again at midnight....Well about 1pm Tues they come in to tell me that the machine they use for the SBFT has broke!! I am in a freakin huge hospital so I am wondering "Do they only have ONE?" I then tell the Dr that I am on day 5 of being in the hospital and that I am going home. I got my family Dr. to get me a referrel to a different hospital for the SBFT. Which I had the very next morning. I got the results back today and NOTHING! There's NO sign of blockage or stricture!! So....WTF? I am trying to figure out what happened to cause all of this to begin with so I don't do it again. I guess I should just be thankful that I am home and the results of the test. One Dr had said that the Golytely possibly got the blockage loose. And that the scar tissue from my surgery could have cause my intestine to loop and then block. So anyways...lol...I wanted to let you all know what the problem was and the outcome. Big Hugz to all of you.

Holy cow, Tonya - what a nightmare!
I am glad that you are home now, and feeling better.
At least you don't have a blockage I guess - but it keeps you wondering I bet.

Yikes! I'm sorry you're having all this hospital trouble!
I've heard the old 'it may be scar tissue from your last surgery' thing myself
before. That was before my crohn's diagnosis, so I can't say I'd believe them.
If I were you I would keep pursuing a good specialist, one who will give you
the time of day and more tests. It's scary that they almost did surgery for NOTHING.
Keep us posted, thinking of you!
