Hi Emma,

Hope you're ok. Welcome to the forum :)

Keep pushing to get answers but seriously if you're in bad pain get yourself to A&E so they can check you out. Don't suffer waiting for your appointment.

Yea the surgeon wasent the most friendly guy and that's a understatement he said they was struggling for beds and to go home with a prescription of buscapan the hospital was a nightmare they put me on a seat in a store room they had no trolleys or anything it was so busy and I waited 14 hours to have a 2 minute conversation with the surgeon who was very unhelpful when I asked what it was he said he could not tell till a biopsy was done but when I looked on the Internet inflamtion in bowel means ibd if that's the case surly he could of been more helpful I haven't dare eat in 40 hours yet I feel full like I eaten a banquet pain still here can inflamation of the bowel be any other problem can it go and it just be a short lived thing my mums sister had Crohn's she's not alive now but she had a colostomy bag and I'm really scared I am going to have one now I was only little when I knew her so I don't recall anything else also how have I gone from urgent toilet habits to now nothing is that normal idk my gp is also useless spoke with her today and she said she can't comment only the surgeon can but tbh he was such a miserable man who made me feel like I was wasteing his time I don't particularly want to go back the surgeon didn't even touch me is that normal ? X

the sickly deep pain accompanied by constipation sounds to me like the beginning of runaway inflammation in the intestines, at least thats what it meant for me when I was suffering the same symptoms...if the pain becomes unbearable get to the ER, dont wait around. I had a similar situation and finally went to the ER. When I got there they thought I had ruptured appendix or kidney stones. I had been having symptoms on and off for a long time, but had been dealing with debilitating pain for weeks. They said I was lucky and that I should have come in sooner...

Hey Emma sorry you're having such a rough time of it. I agree if your in a lot of pain go to A&E to be properly checked. If you do have IBD then you have to be careful with what types of painkillers you can take (maybe someone else can clarify). When I have been feeling the way you are I always have really hot baths which help the pain and also help me go to the toilet.
Take care x

Thank you all for your replies I will go back if it gets much worst pain killer wise codine was given to me along with oral morphg in the hospital but it made me itch real bad the buscapan the happy surgeon gave me are pretty much pointless they do buck all x
May I ask what runaway means please ? And yea hot baths are what I been doing to ease my bum has its sore and I feel like I have somthing big stuck up their lol just laughed to myself about the intimate embarrassing subject I'm telling complete strangers lol random :) I'm sorry to hear you all had it bad hugs xx

hmmm runaway as in without crohn's meds its gonna keep getting worse...but now that you mentioned the painkillers, those can cause wicked constipation and my GI doc told me that he only gives narcotic pain pills for crohn's in the most extreme cases because he believes that they can have very negative effects on the disease and I have to say I agree with him as they gave me demerol every 4 hours while I was hospitalized and it made me stop hurting but it eventually had me unable to pee (urinary retention) or poop (ah yes, the wonders of talking to strangers about your poop...gotta love the crohn's). And hot baths are always good...If you are just looking for some non-narcotic pain relief in the meantime, medical marijuana helps me tremendously as it helps with both pain and inflammation.

Hi Emma,

It is funny talking to strangers about poop etc! But at least we are all in the same boat lol!

I know how frustrating it can be seeing Doctors etc who don't seem to care. Before diagnosis I was so ill, I'd lost nearly 2 stone, my inflammation markers were so high and my doctor phoned me less than 24 hours after taking my bloods and admitted me to hospital. It was a Friday, hospital didn't really do any checks and sent me home!!! (weekend rush maybe?!!) I was going the loo 25+ times a day and was in bad pain. I went back to the Docs on the Monday and they admitted me again, resulting in a 10 day stay with lots of tests and a lot of the staff absolutely gobsmacked they'd sent me home on the Friday! I was diagnosed with Crohns during this time. I had a very uncaring, also aloof Consultant after this for my outpatient appts, he was horrid, I got so anxious before my appts with him, and he started to question whether I had crohns - even though all the Consultants who fed back on the various tests I had said it was crohns!!!! I was so ill all this time, and after about 5 months. I ended up complaining and requesting a different Consultant. I got this and ended being sent for another colonsocopy and they all again said I had crohns! Finally they could start treating me properly.

Sorry for the lengthy paragraph, but just wanted to let you know a lot of us have been through struggles to get diagnosed and to show that if you keep pushing you'll get there :)

Everyone is really helpful on here, please feel free to message if you need anything. Hope you're feeling a little better.

I have had crohns for 18 years and have it very under control now.. I hope you'll have them test for crohns specifically as that is what's necessary to discover if you have it.. If you ARE diagnosed with it..I may be able to help with advice that's worked for me.

Good Luck
