Yep I have done the LOFFLEX diet right behind elemental drinks for almost 7mths last year.

Basically its: Low Fat/ Fibre Limited Exclusion Diet = LOFFLEX

Specifically designed for Crohns disease patients by the department of gastroenterology at Addenbrookes HNS Trust Cambridge. Lucky me was under the dietitians and gastro that developed it!

Have the book in front of me now and the general rules are:

This diet excludes all those foods which are most likely to cause food intolerance.

The diet must be followed approx 2-4wks/ until further notice (they meant until they tell you to start reintroducing foods on the lists provided).

Do not rush your meals, take time to chew food well and eat regularly. 3-4 meals per day. Ensure you drink plenty of fluid 8-10 cups daily.

Keep a diary during this period recording food eaten and symptoms suffered.

If you need to talk medication for headache or other pain use SOLUBLE paracetamol.

If you want more info feel free to PM me and will try and help. It has worked for me in the past in relation to working out my food intolerances - some of which surprised me.

Hi My son has crohns and as a mum I obviously want to do everything I can including feeding him foods which are less likely to upset him. I would be grateful for ideas about which foods are usually the easier to tolerate and those which are more likely to cause inflammation. I would also like to hear from anyone who has used the VSL3 probiotics and if anyone thinks they are useful.

Lofflex Help?

Hi everyone,
Just wondering where I can find out more about the lofflex diet? Is there a book available to buy or downloadable diet plans anywhere? Been searching web for 10 hours and keep hitting dead ends. Lived with Cd for 10 tears and hadn't heard of it before, very keen to try if only I can get some info!
Ta Muchly,
D :confused2:

Pictures show up for me.

Trouble with just trying to follow it blind, as it were, is that it's designed for when you are in remission. Not as as a rescue diet. I.E you need to get stable, and then the plan is to test the 'usually' Crohnie compatible foods. you see what doesn't work for you and leave it out.

So I would recommend talking to your gastro-doc about it. If they dont know about it already and how to use it then get them to contact the Gastroenterology dept at Addenbrookes for further info.

I posted some information in the following thread - http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=7274

I personally followed the Lofflex diet after coming off the Elemental E028 liquid feed. It was recommended to me by my dietician that it was the best course of action, for me it worked but the 2 months of pure Elemental and no food are what really lessened my symptoms in the first place I feel. Although I know Lofflex aims to cut out foods which may irritate Crohn's symptoms. Best to ask one of your care providers for more in depth advice. I created the scans so people here could just gather more information, I wouldn't recommend starting any diet without consulting a professional first, especially when suffering from a chronic condition.

The links to the scans I did no longer work sorry because I removed the images accidentally when rearranging my albums and they've been hotlinked from my account above but no longer exist there. I have reuploaded and posted the new links in the other thread.

What is everyone's experience with the LOFFLEX diet? Did it help? My doctor wants me to go on it so I'm doing as much research as I can.
