Went to check placement of Grace's tube and heard nothing.
:(
So I started to pull out a few cc's of stomach fluid but instead got air, then nothing and then Grace started screaming in pain and saying her nose hurts? She also started dry heaving. It took 10 min. or so for the pain to stop. I hate to pull the tube but I will if it keeps up. I'll also be checking with our home care nurse.

Any thoughts?

It's possible it's in the distal esophagus (Izz coughed/vomited hers out of the stomach before). But I would ask the nurse...hoping for the best!!

Probably too late now, but when I couldn't get stomach acid from Andrew they told me to give him a little bit of water then let him lie on his left side for 10 mins. That seemed to shift the tube back into place. Hope you got hold of the nurse!

I had to pull the tube. I tried like the nurse said last night to reposition it but it didn't help. Tries to put water through but it didn't make a difference. So I pulled it. It was red in the tube for a couple inches and the part of her tube that rested in her nasal cavities was caked with white slime. I think her sinus are causing some problems with this tube.
I'll call the nurse on Monday and set up a time for it to be put back in. Poor kiddo.

Poor Grace. If the tube was irritating her sinuses, maybe it's just as well that the tube is out for a couple of days. Hopefully, the reinsertion won't be difficult! :ghug:

Aw! Poor girl. It is better to be safe than sorry. You sure wouldn't want to put formula into her lungs... She'll be glad to have it out a couple days and give her poor nose a rest. Do you mark her tube to show where it should be when it is in good placement?
