I had my first attack of UC/Crohns, since then I have been made redundant
And now refuse to work for anyone else and have set up
A window cleaning round so that I have complete control of my
Working hours, Im no longer made to feel guilty every time I have
A hospital appointment. best thing I've ever done, I do worry about my future
Though.
I look forward to meeting and speaking with you all

Welcome aboard Tom. You'll find an abundance of support and info here to help you with your daily journey with UC/Crohn's. I know what you mean by trying to go about life as if you don't have these wonderful conditions. It all ends up catching up with doesn't it. I have also come to terms with the fact that I must alter my life to suit my current physical and mental needs. It's not always easy, but it can be done.
I'm glad you joined the forum. Hope to see you around.

Hi Tom and :welcome:

Good to see you here and great to know we have already been able to help you!

So are the docs still undecided as to whether you have UC or Crohns?

What meds are you on?

It's wonderful to hear that you have been able to get your life together and work around the inconvenience this disease brings to so many. Good for you. Good luck and welcome aboard!

Take care, :)
Dusty

Thank you for the warm welcome.
The Consultant has said UC but could be Crohns does this make
Sense, my meds are currentley. Mesalazine/pentasa,
Predfoam, for UC and diclofenac , codydramol and lanzoperazole
For the AS

Hi Tom! It's nice to have a job that's pretty flexible with hours, huh? I know I would be in a much worse situation if my job didn't let me work from home every now and then.

It makes perfect sense and it is not uncommon when you only have large bowel involvement.

Dusty. :)

Hi Tom
and welcome fellow Brit

Glad you've found some answers already on here!
I'm not sure whether you should be taking diclofenic tho? I know it'll be helping the AS, but NSAIDS are a big no no for a Crohnie! Long term use of these can make you bleed inside, and irritate the guts. Have a word with your doc.
Glad you found us, lots of friends here for you, any questions, just fire away!
lotsa luv

Hi Joan
The diclofenac dulls the pain so I can sleep, the consultant
Didn't seem to be too fussed, I will do some more research
And maybe try a different painkiller, have been told the arthritis
And colitis go hand in hand

Hi Tom

I take 25mg Amitriptyline for pains in head, neck and shoulder, it's brill! It knocks me out at bedtime, sleep like a baby!
At high doses this med is an anti depressant, at lower doses it works by blocking pain receptors, and it does work
Speak to your doc about it, but the diclofenic isn't going to help with your colitis in the long run

Thanks for that will ask at my next appointments in dec,
When you say sleep like a baby do you mean you wake up
Every four hours for food;-)

ha ha ha LMFAO @ you Tom!!

actually no, I'm sleeping right thro! First time in years! It's good stuff!
