Hello!
My story might cheer some of you up ;)

I was diagnosed in 1986 after a year of doctors looking at me and scatching thier heads, was out of school and lost a lot of weight but im a reader so i cant say i was too unhappy about it if im honest. I managed to avoid surgery narrowly and suffered pretty much regular symptoms until was 24. Since then i have mild flare ups when im being irresposible that will last for a few days at the most. Crohns is not incurable, i dont even mention i have it to doctors on the rare occasion i need to see one. Your way out lies in diet and stress management. Organic macro biotics for a year and its over, i can eat anything i like in moderation these days as long i dont forget how sensitive i am.
I deal with flare ups by immediatly drinking combinations of peppermint tea, miso(brown rice kind) and nettle tea, its important to avoid any fats when you flare up, and keep the carbs to a minimum too. These are also a part of my everyday routine, apart from the miso which i still can only handle when i need it lol.
Ill also put this out there - theres a certain illegal plant that has a lot to offer the crohns sufferer, with utmost resect of course ;)

Take care people and make sure you read as much as listen to the medical establishment.

Hi welcome

I am glad that this works for you and that you are feeling well. A lot of people are affected by this disease differently and what works for one might not work for all.

Hiya Hector
and welcome

That's great that your diet is working for you
Crohn's IS incurable
Crohn's is inflammation.
And you've been very lucky these past years that inflammation hasn't struck.
We all know about diet and stress management and weed here on the forum, what works for one won't work for another. We all have different foods that affect our symptoms, ie diarrhea, bloat and cramps.
But when inflammation is obvious, meds have been some people's life savers.
I'm one of those people, macro biotics wouldn't have saved my life last year when I was infected and blocked.
This is my personal opinion, but I wouldn't advocate to anyone to not take medication, and to 'cure' their Crohn's with diet and teas and rice.
Peace

Hi Hector! That is wonderful that you have found what works for you. But, like my friends above me have said, most people need medication to help keep the inflammation away. Diet and stress management can certainly help, but it usually is not enough.

But, again, I am so happy to hear you have found a way to manage your CD, and I hope you continue to do so well.

Hi Hector!
More power to you. If it works for you, great... unfortunately not all of us are as fortunate. Stay well.
Don't dismiss Crohns... it is presently incurable, but with more research, maybe they will find a cure.

Hi Hector and welcome!

Glad to see you have things under control!

You will probably enjoy the thread on medical marijuana, if you haven't already discovered it!
