Hi, I'm 29 yr old male got diagnosed with crohns of terminal ileum in Feb 2013 after a yr of investigations. Been getting lower back pain which I know can be associated but have managed to strengthen up. Last Nov thought I pulled my hamstring so got treatment for that but now pain is in the hip causing me so much pain I can barely move. Last Friday I got taken off budesonide but I'm continuing to take calcium pills. As a firefighter I'm struggling but can't tell my employer as they're unsupportive. I've been seeing a osteopath for 3 weeks who's baffled whether it's hip, disc or crohns related. Has anyone experienced this. My gap believes it could be related and I'm awaiting a date for hip x ray. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately it is not uncommon to have boney spinal issues associated with Crohn’s. :(

Please have a look through the Arthritis sub forum, I think you will find many others with similar symptoms to your own…

With ileal Crohn’s and lower back pain I will say to ensure when you have investigations done that they pay particular attention to the sacroiliac joint/s. Your symptoms do link up closely with problems in this area and may involve inflammation of the joint only or with symptoms as severe as yours there may be Ankylosing Spondylitis present.

Good luck and keep us posted with how you get on.
