How can you help fatigue?

I know fatigue happens because of the illness but is there anything that can be done to help?
Do you still push them or do you let it go?

Poor Grace wouldn't even get out of her stroller to look in the toy isle.
She did speech therapy with her head resting on the table. :yfaint:

:ghug:Thanks for the replies.

I don't know of an answer either.. unless she's low in iron or such? If its crohns fatigue- not sure there is a fix besides remission.

Farmwife, is she doing well with her vitamin levels? Getting Jae's nutritional status under control made all the difference.

I tend to let things go. I very rarely force Andrew to do anything unless I believe it is something he will regret not doing. Activity levels are way down on what they used to be, but it has become our norm unfortunately. Hope Grace feels better soon.

Thanks everyone.:ghug:

Went for a Christmas light ride and she hardly said a word.:confused2:
I gave her the first dose of Levsin tonight. Hopefully she'll get though the night without crying.

What's crazy, this time last year she was doing her first cleanout.
Wow:eek: What a crazy ride it's been.:cool2:

Really hope grace got through the night without pain. I know that tiredness you are talking about, I would get her iron levels checked and get the doc to have a look to make sure she's not incubating something but it's probably part and parcel of the disease. When Lucy is like this I just try to get her through the day

V has been like that for months at a time, from disease effect. At times too weak to hold a pencil or use her tablet. It is very sad to witness.

Since little Grace just started new meds, if THIS level of fatigue is new for her, I'd consider drug effect as a cause. I know methotrexate can cause fatigue.

I know, too, how hard that is to watch.

In the past, we've found iron levels to play into fatigue. I let M take naps and check on her a lot and don't push her to do things. I also tend to cater to her a lot when she's like this (don't we always though ;-) )

Izz used to sleep for 12-14 hours, and nap besides. I'd let her, plus allow her to take it easy. Sad. :( I also encouraged the healthiest foods possible and water-although I know how that can go as well. Hugs, mama!

Thanks again.
Grace is Anemic (borderline). She's on iron drops. Her labs improved a bit.

I do think the mtx is amplifying the tiredness but she was getting this way before the shot.

Hey Farmwife, hugs!! It is so hard to see them constantly exhausted, especially at special times of the year, or when it is something they really used to love doing!! Our ds has been anaemic for over three years now and during a flare it gets terrible. Last school term he was only getting there about once a week, he was just sleeping at home, and he is 13!!! :( I don't force him to do things. I try and make resting 'fun', like new movies and stuff. He has certainly upped his screen time, and though it is awful to have them constantly in front of media devices I am glad they can keep him occupied!! The only thing that has helped us has been huge calorie doses of EEN and an iron infusion. Iron tablets/liquids were never strong enough for him and they also gave him gastro pain and we were worried it would mask a flare. Hope this is just the new meds and she improves soon!!!! :ghug:
