Hi all,

I am new to this forum. My husband was dx with Crohn's in Feb 2015. After 2 surgeries for seton placement (2 fistulas), 1 month of latent TB medication (since we are from India), he is now set to start Remicade next week. I read many posts about being prepared for the first infusion, but still really nervous. Is there anything specific that we should keep an eye on, or is he going to feel really better after the first infusion like our GI says?

PS - We are with an excellent GI who specializes in CD.

Thanks
Aarthi

Hi there and welcome. The infusion takes about 3 hours and he will be monitored during it. Bloods are taken. You can relax and read a book as it is not unpleasant. I was offered lunch during it. It worked for me until I had a reaction and have been off it.I may have to go back on. Best wishes.

Thanks Honey! Good luck to you too, hope u feel better.

Good luck @aarthi! Try not to be too worried. My son had his first infusion two weeks ago (and is due for his second this week). It was thankfully pretty uneventful and hope for the same for you. He was very comfortable, they monitored him the entire time, and he just hung out and relaxed through the process. His only comment was that it was a little "boring" which in the scheme of things, is about the best thing I could have heard! Keep us posted!

Thank you so much, @theresad. I will update after the infusion. Hope your son continues to feel better :)
