Hi all,
I'm brand new to the forum. I started Humira a few weeks back and things have been going great. I've been feeling like a "normal" person (whatever that means!) and couldn't be happier...
until a few days ago. I woke up with a very painful, hard swollen gland near the groin. It's the weekend so I haven't been able to get a hold of a doc, but in short, am loosing my mind since I fall in the demographics/symptoms for lymphoma (fatigue, fullness in the gut, 29yo, male).
I know it seems like nothing, but any support or advice would help talk me down.

My son is 18, he has had different swollen lymph nodes off and on throughout his disease process. The first occurred shortly after starting remicade. I panicked too but the GI checked them and tot was due to the inflammation in his body and not meds. He has had them a few more times as well.
Hi would definitely get it checked out but from posts I've read on here it is more eften a reaction to the inflammation process. Hugs

Hi Clash,
Thanks so much for sharing. I know it's not uncommon for the swelling to occur. This is the first time it's happened to me and am getting a bit worked up like I mentioned in my first post. I've read a handful of other similar posts, too, but sometimes I forget that symptoms can come in all shapes and sizes and they're going to be new to me when starting a new medication. We'll see how this turns up in the next few days/weeks, but having some community support does wonders. Thanks so much for that.

When I first started humira, my neck got so swollen that I could barely speak. That went away after a few weeks.

Now however I get aches and tightness under my armpits - going to ask my GP to have a feel around. I'm trying not to panic! If it was lymphoma, I'd just have to deal with that if and when it was diagnosed.

Hey LewisS. Since my post I stopped in at my GP. They felt around and described to me in my situation that if it were lymphoma there it would be pathologic. I would see or feel a "rosary effect" or beading of the nodes being effected by the disease. They're still running bloodwork and checking it out, but we've always got to remember to play it cool until we see the docs. (Advice we can both give our younger, more foolish selves!) be well.

Thank for the heads up. I don't feel any beading - it just worries me that it's possibly a start of something nasty!

What kind of blood test would pick this up? I had a FBC, WBC, PV and CRP done yesterday.

Guys, it's always scary when something like this happens, especially when one of our forum reported Lymphoma while on Humira just a couple of days ago. It's pretty hard to adopt that < "let's wait and see what the results are." attitude when there is so much information available now. Hopefully for either of you it is nothing important and Humira will continue to work for you.
