Does anyone out there crave Ice like i do, I can eat pounds of ice a day? I know its anemia realted from my Crohns flare, but I wake up in the middle of the night and have to have it. It also doesn't help with my teeth, which are horrid from years of meidcation.

Are you taking iron infusions to help with the anemia? Even in my most severe anemic state I never craved ice, but I know it's a sign of Pica, side effect of the anemia.

I guess it's better than craving dirt or chalk, right???

Along with the extra iron as suggested, switching tooth pastes may help your teeth some like using Sensodyne and only using a soft bristle toothbrush as harder ones wear down the enamel.

I too eat ice constantly. Im severely anemic. Dr said to cook pot of stew meat and eat piece every 15 min helps with iron. I cant take iron pills as to hard onme[SPECIAL][/SP[WIKI][/WIKI]ECIAL]

I have had blood test and my iron is always off, I am constantly getting iron infusions, for some reason even taking iron pills, I can't seem to keep any iron in my body, when I was pregnant with my children by the last one I had to have 10 blood transfusions and atleast 10 iron infusions, but inturn my Crohns was non existent. I guess its just something I will always have to deal with, i can handle eating ice, people close to me think its funny, I always have a cup of ice and am always chomping, they just laugh at me.

yes this was happening to me as well for some time then my crohns got out of control the doctors found out that i was internally bleeding for quite some time causing me to loose blood without knowing it and it almost killed me. but that doesnt seem to be the issue with you for say as you said your crohns was almost non existent.
have you tried and natural medications like aloevera juice or a probiotic?
