I feel really sick to my stomach...In a bad flare with a fistula (dont no where yet). I went to the bathroom this morning and I really had to push it out. It was formed and not diarrhea. If I had an obstruction would I be having formed stool?

It is possible to pass a little but not a full BM with a partial obstruction. Its possible that you may have scar tissue/stricture from all the inflammation in your bowels or the fistula may be starting to perforate your bowels (symptoms for that are severe abdominal pain, chills, fever, nausea and vomiting) which is a serious matter that should be taken care of right away via emergency room visit. Since its the weekend, use the ER at your disposal (if you experience some or all of the symptoms above or if you simply don't feel right cause you know your body best) and call your GI first thing on Monday morning (if you haven't left them a message already this weekend, please do so because someone is listening to messages over the weekend and only emergency cases get call backs usually). You may require further testing done and quite possibly a medication adjustment.

I am in the mid of a flare, diarreah, cramping, liquid diet....after 3 weeks of loose stool today in the morning I had a regular BM but I eas experiencing the same thingI eas sitting over an hour in the bathroom just to push it out! once it went it was beautiful. Is this norm? no fever no chills no symptoms on the moment. Any suggestions?????????

When I had an obstruction, it was a whole new level of discomfort and then pain. At first I knew I just did not feel right. Then at lunch I had no desire to eat (very unusual for me). Then it just kept getting worse and I went to the ER that night. Emergency surgery the next day.

Bottom line, I think you'll know something is very wrong if you have an obstruction.

The pain from obstructions was horrendous for me. If I were you I would call your doc. If this is a change from your norm, it should be reported. Just to be safe.

If you were obstructed apart from the STRONG pain you would have nausea and vomits, even with an empty stomach.

This may be a stupid question, but how do you know you have a fistula without knowing where it's at? Is there another way to diagnose them besides MRI? Just curious because I suffer from the external kind in my rectum and was always wondering how I would know if I ever got one internally.
