Hi all,
10 years ago I received an ileostomy as a result of Crohns Disease.
While today I am very grateful for the quality of life that the pouch has restored to me, one constant frustration I have is how the edges of the pouch fold forward, bulge out when the bag starts to fill, or just sit in a visible way below a t-shirt or otherwise.
I have tried bandages/support garments that go around the stomach and over the pouch, but I find the pressure uncomfortable and the restriction of the flow from the stoma can lead to leaks under the pouch plate I find.
So I am developing a new tape product that will essentially allow you to pin the edges of the bag to your body without putting pressure on the stoma. This should allow the stoma to still work and for output to move to the bottom of the bag, without having the edges bulge under a shirt.
My question is, who out there has similar frustrations and why? What features would you like to see in the tape product? The more feedback I can get the better I can make the design.
