i'm new to this website, but i'm interseted in meeting people who are in the same situation as me, recently i had an operation to remove a part of my large bowel as i had a flair up of my crohns disease, the operation went well, however a few days after it, i got an infection and contracted septecemia, so had to have another operation to put in place an ileostomy, i'm due back in hospital in the next few months to have the operation reversed, i was just wondering if anyone has had the same type of thing done, and what i should expect?
regards

I have not had to have an ileostomy so can not help with your query but I did just want to say 'hi' and :welcome: to the forum. There will be others here who will hopefully soon come along and answer your question. Also if you haven't already please do check out our stoma sub forum as there will be plenty of folks here who can have a chat at least about living with one http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46. Also are you on any meds as well for the crohns? How are you feeling at the moment?

Glad you have decided to join :)

Hi Ian!

Yes but not exactly the same situation as you. Had total colon and rectum removed 25 years ago. Internal pouches made (see my story for explanation) but never worked, so wearing permanent ileostomy now. You say you are having only part of your large bowel removed, so I am keeping my fingers crossed you enjoy a long healthy remission. You will feel wonderful once you start eating again after the surgery. Please be sure to ask me anything specific about your surgery and I will respond. My story isn't typical, but probably not much I didn't experience surgery wise, so I may be able to answer some questions.

Hope you're feeling well soon,
