i'm a newbie...

hi all! i'm not totally new to crohn's just new to this whole forum thing. i'm 27 and was diagnosed in 2005. i've had a few full flares since then but i've been off meds for about 18 mnths because i had a son and my dr.s would not allow me to take meds while i was pregnant. i'm trying to get some answers and support from understanding people who know what i'm going through.
i'm having a flare but being that my husband is in the military and we recently moved, i can't get into a gastro with our insurance. Also we've moved 4 times since my last visit to the gastro and i'm having trouble locating my records. i've completely changed my diet (no wheat, gluton, coffee, dairy, etc.) but it seems that nothing is helping. i haven't gone to the ER (yet) cause i have a 9mnth old and no one to watch him which makes it difficult.
anyone have any suggestions for relief?

Hello, welcome to the forum.

I hear you on the frustration waiting for a GI appointment.

Hope you can find a way to get the immediate treatment that you desperately need. Keep us up to date, please?

Hi, and welcome to the forum!
Not sure what to call you, as shortening to rump just seems out of line, so I will go for the whole thing - rumpkmh. (Get it?? rump?? Haha - I slay myself!!)
I am really surprised that your doc wouldn't let you take any meds while you were pregnant. I was on sulfasalazine and asacol while pregnant, and girl on here just had a baby on Humira.
Anyways - if you are having a flare, you might want to try to get on something as quickly as you can, even if it means going to emerg. It seems like the worse the flare gets, the harder it becomes to control.
I hope you can find your records so they don't have to do all the routine testing over again.
Anyways congrats on having your son, and welcome again!

haha you can call me Kris...i guess i should have put that in there somewhere. oh well... i was surprised myself that i couldn't take meds while prego however i was highrisk already and had complications during pregnancy. the maternal fetal specialist didn't want to complicate things further or harm the baby. just being careful i guess.
anyways, i think i'm just gonna have to bite the big one and go to the emerg. cause it's outta control :( thanks tho...

Hi Kris!
Welcome and glad you found us! I hope you are able to get some kind of treatment soon, even if it does mean going to the ER. I have told myself since my first flare, and they put me in the hospital, that I would not go back because I was in there for a week and they had no idea what was causing my symptoms. But I do realize that sometimes there is no other choice, and now that I know what was causing the problem, I'm sure if I had a flare bad enough then yes I would go.

Good luck on getting your records and finding a new GI.

Welcome Kris.

Tricare won't pay for you to see a GI? (I assume Tricare if you're military)

Maybe go on base somewhere? I had family up at Patrick AFB (near Orlando) but you're further down south .. not sure whats down there.

hey Kris, welcome to the forum.

sorry to hear about your troubles with doctors and records, enough to make you crazy sometimes!
good luck with your current flare, and especially so if you do end up in the ER. i cant even imagine trying to take care of a kid at a time like that, but if you get some relief then so much better in the long run, yeah?
see you around!

Tricare will pay and it's great insur. for the most part however it's been hard for me to find a dr. that takes tricare without wanting my records. shoot, it's hard to find a knowledgeable tricare dr. period! (haha)

I wish i could go on base somewhere but being that i'm not the one in the military, i'm only the wife, i can't be seen my a base dr.. good suggestion tho :)

Hi Kris,
Just wanted to welcome you to the forum..
a place where you can relax, ask questions, vent, whatever.
We're here for you...all of us in the same boat.

If you're having a bad flare I would tend to go to the ER.
They may be able to put you in touch with a good GI doctor.

Once again....
welcome and healing hugs~Nancy :)

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I know ins. issues can be frustrating. I went 3 months w/o it & i was on edge the whole time.

I hope you feel better soon.
