Hi,

Jack has just come home from school with an immunisation form for Diphteria,Tetanus,Polio amd Meningitis c jabs does anyone know if these are live vaccines as he is on Methotrexate injections which make's him come under as immunosuppressed.

My Jack just had the meningitis and it was not live. The DTaP he had his last booster when he was 5 so I don't know on that one. Is there a number on the form you can call and check?

Woops just checked his record had the booster for DTaP in 2011 while he was on Imuran so not live there either.

I am also worrying about this too. I asked both the local IBD nurses, who said they would double check and get back to me. That was about 3 weeks ago!
Even if they say it's okay to give the vaccines, I am still so nervous about actually letting him have them. I've not got alot of trust in vaccines!

Yeh i'm the same, i text Jacks IBD nurse this afternoon all she text back was not to sign the form until i checked they were not live vaccines How i'm i to know if they are live or not. Sometimes i give up with people.

A just had the DT booster and it was not live. Not sure about DtP though. I don't like immunizations either but she didn't build antibodies and I don't want to leave her unprotected.

My GI wants me to call her before I get any vaccinations, just to ok it before I get it. I have been told not to get the meningitis vaccine, though. I always assumed that was because it was live, but now I don't know why?

My son had the meningococcal c vaccine last year. It was not a live vaccine so it was fine for him to have. I don't think the Diphteria,Tetanus and Polio vaccine is live either. We had to refuse the Chicken Pox vaccine as that one was live. I am a firm believer in getting all vaccines possible. When I was in university my best friend died of meningitis, it is a serious disease.

Live Vaccines?

Diphtheria: No

Tetanus: No

Meningitis C: No

Polio: Injection No, Oral Yes
