Had my colonoscopy today.. great news no sign what so ever of my crohns being active what so ever!! Humira is still working wonders along with exercise and good diet.. but my results were polyps which I understand but also prominent lymphoid folloicales. .. I have no idea what or why I would have these with no active crohns.. has anyone else had these? What are they why do I have them ?? They took several biopsies of them but dint really say anything . Any help greatly appreciated .. terminal illieum crohns
Thanks debbie

Hi Debbie,

Congratulations on a very positive result. I didn't know Doncaster did Colonoscopies on Saturday.

If you have ever been on Azathioprine I would be very interested to hear of the differences you have experienced between that and Humira. My next appointment is in early April and I am keen to know about alternatives to Azathioprine.

What are you doing diet/supplements wise ? Have you ever tried Turmeric/Curcumin ? Holland & Barrett in the Frenchgate Centre has sold out due to high demand for various medical conditions. It is supposed to be a natural anti-inflammatory and supposedly has had some success with Crohn's.

All the best,,

Ernie

Hi Ernie. . Yea tried azathioprine did absolutely nothing for me sadly..no benefit what so ever.. everything they have tried never got me fully in remission other than humira/adalimumab. . Humira I inject every other week! Not a single side effect and kept me in remission. Even after so called trigger foof it's stopped a flair after eating/drinking a small bit. Everyone is different but for me personally I swear by it for me.. also stress I have learn to control alot more as this is a huge factor in my crohns..
I have b12 injections every 10 week.. vitamin d supplements. I stay away from nearly all dairy and have alternative like almomd milk etc. I have turkey or chicken or fish where possible.. Lots of veg and cut out soda drinks and bad fats n sugars only natural like honey or pure maple syrup. I exercise about 4 days a week... n drink loads n loads of water.. I don't drink alcohol as that makes me so so poorly n been t total for 4 years... and to be honest the endoscopist and nurses were on about tumeric today and it's good for loads n loads . I'll research it!! . Yes they let me choose what day appointment I wanted.. hope all this is a little light reading for you hahah. Any more questions give me a shout! Oh n our asda sell loads of hollandaise and Barratt things now I get my chia seeds n flax seeds etc from there as apposed to hollandaise and Barratt now.

I give my horse turmeric and I swear by it. Make sure you mix with freshly ground black pepper (activates the curcumin) and a high quality oil to protect your stomach. I use flax oil for the horse as it has other benefits for them, but coconut or olive oil probably best for yourself. I would always recommend making it yourself, the capsules have been shown to be quite low doses and work out MUCH more expensive.

Most people make it into a paste and have a couple of spoonfuls of that a day, but I know you can make it into biscuits etc if you find that easier.

I've been able to completely get the old girl off very expensive drugs from the vet using turmeric and can't tell a difference in her for it, other than her tummy is more settled than it was on danilon.

If I run out of it and don't feed it for a couple of days her gait is noticeably stiff and shorter than usual.

Great information from you both. I was aware of the need for black pepper with Turmeric but never thought about mixing it up myself, so thanks for the advice. I've also read great things about Black Cumin Seed oil so maybe those three could be the perfect mixture although it sounds revolting :)

I am also experimenting with Almond milk and cutting out dairy, no alcohol or fizzy anything (t total for 18 years anyway so that's no problem), peppermint tea to get trapped wind moving, vitamins B12 & D3, magnesium, zinc, folic acid and Omega 3 fish oil.

Who knows whether any of this will have any impact but I am determined to give anything a go.
